Their howls and yips persist long after the call to prayer ends with an electronic beep. Strong coffee grounds my butterflies while beneath our catamaran, the Marmara Sea flashes like crystal in an Istanbul palace. We will return, but for now the green hills of the Bosphorus are replaced by the scorched Dardenelles and Turkiye has just begun. Mavis Moog 2025

No evidence of farmer's missing Shetland ponies found in eagle nests Five Shetland pony foals disappeared from a farm in South Uist between May and June, with the owner raising concerns that the birds of prey could be responsible.

Will this satisfy the crofters and farmers? There were no lamb or Shetland foal bones in the nests. No evidence at all that the sea eagles have taken livestock.

Amazing how humans think they have the right to demand the removal of a species.
