Iβve been out campaigning in Gorton & Denton today.
The response on the doors confirmed to me what all polling & fair analysis shows: this is a Labour vs Reform contest
Labour in Manchester is strong not just in activists but in public recognition of the cityβs progress.
Together, we can win this
What a surprise. Reform UK, the home of rogue landlords
I'm by no means partisan.
Before 2018 local elections I had only ever voted @UKLabour, including #Corbyn for leader.
Since then though, I voted:
LE 18 19 21 #Libdem 22 23 #Green 24 #Labour
EU 19 Green
GE 19 Labour 24 Green
And #Starmer #Rayner for leaders
...the most likely alternative to Reform and Tory.
Enjoy celebrating a couple of extra seats in a Farage governed country.
I remember the Corbyn era of if you don't vote labour, you get Tory and clearly support Tory.
No matter how much you dislike current Labour, plenty voted for Corbyn whilst not agreeing or liking him or his Labour.
I don't want Reform/Tory, so as I did then I continue to suggest voting for...
The right decision. It's a shame @mayorofgm.bsky.social isn't an MP at the moment, but he should remain committed to the role he has been elected to.
This isn't a 'block' or anti-democratic. It's the parties rules and processes in action.
It's stupid to needlessly fight 2 by-elections.
#LabourParty
NEC has helpfully taken a quick and decisive decision.
We now need to move on, allow Andy Burnham to get on with continuing the fantastic job he is doing in Greater Manchester and winning the by-election in Gorton and Denton.
