This book tells a bit of that history. It also shows what skilled organizers are doing to grow this work at the scale our movements and moment require. I hope it might contribute to our collective courage and imagination.

Renee Good and Alex Pretti were executed by the state for enacting cross-racial solidarity in the face of racialized terror and governmental impunity. They stand in a long tradition of those who have refused the enticements of white supremacy to fight for multiracial democracy.

Fascism only works if it has a social base. I wrote a book about efforts across the country to organize predominantly white communities away from this base. How? By showing them their shared stake in fighting for racial and economic justice. The book is out Jan 2026. @surj.org
