50020 β€˜Revenge’ stands forlorn in the scrapyard at Booth’s in Rotherham. With many miles under its belt, a no doubt a flashover or two, its time was almost up. A sad goodbye to what was one of my personal favourites.

Many thanks, always so appreciative. As you rightly say, both have survived the test of time and are testament to their designers and builders. For me it’s always been EE, just can’t get enough of those engines!

Thanks Neil, seems a different world from today doesn’t it?!

Sulzer vs English Electric! Two absolute giants of the modernisation era. Seen here displaying early Railfreight and the later two tone grey variant metals sector.

Morning all, I hope you’re all doing okay. A wintery scene in Leeds City station in the late 1980s today, happy days of bashing these machines. This 45/1 is about to depart for Liverpool Lime Street from the old platform 12.

The Broadmoor Manitou Pikes Peak cog railway in Colorado. Photographed at the top of the 14,115ft peak back in 2001, just before I almost passed out! My body doesn’t deal too well with the altitude, as I found out that day! πŸ₯΄#PikesPeak #Colorado #ManitouSprings #CogRailway

A not so sunny summer weekend in north Wales, and the peace is well and truly broken as 31438 arrives at Llandudno Junction. Great days of loco haulage courtesy of Regional Railways.

The sound just reverberated of the walls, it was great. Always nice behind a 37, or a 45, or even a 31 come to that! Many happy memories. πŸ‘

A station that no longer hums with the sound of AC electric locos, or ticking over Sulzers…
The modern day Liverpool Lime Street, full of modern trains, but still bustling as it always did.

Early Spring in the West Highlands, the snow remains on the peaks, and the greenery of the hills is yet to come through. The Metro-Cammell built 156, the mainstay of the line for many years eases its way off the Horseshoe curve.

This has to be red stripe Railfreight in its truest form. The class 58, the final class of loco to be built at Doncaster Works.
58019 passes through Crewe with a rake of MGRs, doing what it was built to do.

An old shot of the cab of Whistler 40088, which spent time at Crewe Heritage Centre. Purchased by the Class Forty Preservation Society, and more recently sold to the Cab Yard, a specialist sub-group of the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
Good to know it’s in safe hands.

Probably because it’s an afterthought. I don’t like how it clashes with the angled stripes near the roof line. And it should have cut straight near the door, not half curved over. πŸ€”
