This was a really enjoyable read, I was struck by the resilient minority mutant population acting as a reservoir for growth once stress in the environment is lessened. I wonder if the cluster 2 and cluster 3 phenotypes could emerge in different predictable physical contexts in the host

The slime mold sporangia are only about 2 to 3mm high.
