one question i've been thinking about is whether targeting a girls school harms the girls in their capacities as knowers
Markwayne βgacyβ mullin
Doctor delivering the bad news "we've given your penis to the cops"
Doctor saying "have a nice life"
These are pictures I took of my television
Smoking on that shit that made Hagar the horrible
Honestly less vague than I would have expected! lol
oh no
extremely up my alley. delillo is, in my estimation, the most prescient american novelist of the 20th century by a lot, and also, evidently (though it's also not hard to notice this in his other works), a real fucking weirdo. shoutout to the big dog donny d
wow truly nobody could have seen this coming
can't think of anyone more appropriate to correct me about QuΓ©bΓ©cois culture than professor francois!
for the record, the noam take is that toronto is a truly incredible city and you should disregard all of the canadians who confidently tell you it sucks
'of course you think that because you lived in TORONTO which is canada's DEMONIC CITY. anyone who has been to REAL CANADA...'
i got it, i got it
[bracing for canadians to yell at me about this claim]
i've mostly just lived in big cosmopolitan cities in each country, which will obviously skew things, but it is interesting to me that the US and canada are so opposite on this metric, because they feel pretty culturally similar day to day
though i do need to clarify (a clarification that is especially important if andrew is right that today's email was in reference to a 2023 search):

unc is the best job market emailer in the game and it's not close
Oh shit if books could kill episode on bullshit jobs. Time to argue about graeber on bluesky again
Iβm happy to reassure the residents of Shreveport: you are not in danger of a nuclear strike
Because this city was built on the high ground, it is substantially less vulnerable to nuclear ballistic missile strikes
I suppose this is just my ignorance, but the idea of ranking the βmost vulnerableβ cities to a nuclear strike is flummoxing me. They all seem roughly equally vulnerable to my untrained eye
Love to live in a representative democracy. I feel so represented. Iβm really participating in the democratic process
As I understand it, the big congressional argument is whether congress will insist that trump come ask them about the Iran thing (at which point they will definitely say yes), or not insist that he come ask them at all (which is what theyβre actually gonna do)
this does sometimes happen in philosophy talk Q&As too
i think my interview with isaac chotiner about how i support war with iran is going to go great. i'm really excited
Alright time for the ritual. Time to post our favorite part
