And it would be naive to think that production doesnt go out of its way to protect or prolong its favorites, I mean, that's a pretty open secret.

I mean probably not, but it's still pretty hypocritical/frustrating having to "play around" somebody instead of "playing with" them.

There's a very easy solution to that problem, of course. But I imagine its harder to do that when that person is potentially protected by production and the edit.

Im so sore now lol but Im hopeful it'll get better in a day or two. When they did my right side, I was painless by the following day and eating solid foods by the third day. So we'll see.

Glad I got it done though.

Second dental appointment was a lot more difficult than the first. The anesthesia wasn't working well on that side of my face and my gums were in general in worse shape. Doc kept apologizing for it but I was like "no no, I earned this pain by waiting this long to take care of things"

It sucked tho.

That's probably true, but Ive been lucky to see most of that kind of stuff drowned out and downvoted as it should be.

Good grief. The Kitchen Nightmares subreddit is a freaking incel convention.

My BP always spikes for appointments too. Literally heading to the doc now and when I went two weeks ago, my BP was so high they had to wait for me to relax and calm down lol. My numbers dropped by like 15 each after 10 minutes or so.

Fully expecting the same to happen today.

Its also really awesome seeing these really niche things I grew up with as an awkward kid crossover into the mainstream so successfully. Ditto with the Sonic movies (but Sonic was a lot less niche in my day)

Its so cool seeing the new team elevate and extrapolate the source material in the most maximalist way possible, but not without paying reverence to the source.

Its not so much the reinterpretation of the original story (which in either case is not perfect not even close) but there's a joy in seeing the little things get expanded on. The big place I feel this is in the soundtrack. OPLA's soundtrack is an eclectic feast and season 2 seems even more so.

I saw someone on Reddit compare the One Piece live-action action to the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy (specifically how OP season 2 feels a lot like Rebirth) and I find that a really appealing comparison.

I feel the same way I felt seeing FF7 reinterpreted in a new medium and its so exciting.
