"I could have mowed the lawn 8,644 times instead"
I said goodbye in the most fitting way I could think of: dying to the Heart with Ironclad, Silent and Defect, and continuing to act like Watcher doesn't exist.
Slay The Spire 2 lands in a few hours so we can probably consider this my final score. Sleep well, my darling. (and I'm afraid the answer is still 'Maybe Later')
OKAY but STOP what's really important about this story is that the name of the PR who was unable to control the impulse to lash out is called Will Powers.
Prediction markets, like crypto, like AI, are simply just another large-scale expression of COVID trauma among the mangerial class and now they're using them to turn a fucking war into a pyramid scheme they can scam each other into investing in.

This bit in the From Russia With Love game made me laugh out loud. You've got a fairly grounded, low key fight based on the one in the movie, then the most video game looking fucker of all time slides into frame.

I stand by it @hitpoints.bsky.social
"Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I'd love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardwareβI think any game like that, it'd be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I'm concerned, that's definitely not something I'd be opposed to."
Resharing the most recent (to my knowledge) on-the-record comments from Miyazaki on Bloodborne from my 2024 interview. A port and a remake are obviously pretty different propositions and I'm not shocked he was down for one but not the other. www.pcgamer.com/games/action...
fascinating point from today's @hitpoints.bsky.social
"I get my games for free" is so entrenched an idea within the Xbox ecosystem, though, I don't know how you turn that ship around without completely torching what little remaining goodwill you have.
They're bonkers to let you go and I think you're better off out of there, but this is very sad and I'm sorry. You may now have a drink

The latest newsletter for Tactical Breach Wizards is good stuff. There's an apology.
When my last publisher went bust I thought this book was destined to be out of print forever, but infinite thanks to the folks at Lost in Cult for bringing it back to life.
New chapters! New insights! New full colour illustrations! Lavish production values! Beautiful typesetting!
Some news - today Iβm launching One More Catch, an independent publication covering PokΓ©mon Go and the next generation of PokΓ©mon games: @onemorecatch.site
Throughout it all, even when things went bad, Spencer clearly understood games as a medium, a profession, and a business. Having an Actual Game Guy at the top of a big gaming company is far rarer than it should be, and while there was a lot of facade to Spencer β particularly towards the end, when he used faux-candour and his gaming credentials to try to mask the godawful shitfest he had spawned β I imagine this is the aspect of him we will come to miss the most. Heartening though it is to at last see a woman in the big chair in this most historically blokey of industries, I do not see much in Asha Sharmaβs track record to suggest things are about to get better. (And thatβs before we get into all the birthrater stuff.) So, yeah. Phil was a good bloke, and he did some good stuff. I believe his heart was in the right place right up until the end β but unfortunately for him, and the rest of us, Microsoft these days is no place for hearts. Letβs have a quick look at the three big moments where, to my mind, it all went wrong for Phil Spencer.

Guys being Dudes
With new blockbusters taking longer and costing more than ever to make, and nostalgia never a more powerful currency, shuttering a proven specialist in remakes and remasters is frankly insane. Casting out a team of such deep technical expertise and, more crucially, such broad institutional knowledge β Bluepoint doesnβt just know its own tools and technology, but also those of the studios whose games it has modernised, from Sony Santa Monica to Naughty Dog, Team Ico to FromSoftware β is simply inexplicable. Pretending thereβs nothing for Bluepoint to work on, when the market for remakes has never been bigger and the long-rumoured, widely coveted Bloodborne remake has reached Shenmue 3 levels of mythicism, is unbelievable. Everything about this decision, from top to bottom and viewed from any and every angle, is ridiculous, baffling, an affront.

Also, respectfully, if you're worried about the state of industry ... buy indie games, at full price, on release. That matters more than the CEO musical chairs game.

A pen sketch of the news photo of ex-prince Andrew, sweating in the back of his car after a 12 hour police interview, with the flames of Hell roaring behind him, entitled Great Moments In History.
I had to sketch that amazing photo from yesterday, to make sure I never forget it.
