My photo shows a small Roman flask made of translucent cobalt blue glass in the form of a fat little mouse, 14.6 cm in length. The body of the vessel is rounded and stands on four feet made from tooled trails of glass. A separate blob of glass forms the head with eyes, ears, and a pointed nose. The neck of the flask is funnel-shaped and slightly up-turned to look like a tail. The flask surface is decorated with trails of glass which have been flattened and notched. Modern scholars refer to this type of trailed decoration as βsnake threadβ. On display at the Met Museum in New York
Something lovely for the weekend! A 1,800 year-old Roman glass flask shaped like a mouse!

Young yellow and orange Aspen trees on a hillside with a streak of sunlight through the foreground. The rocky mountain cliffs in the background are lit up with afternoon sunlight.
This is around Talbot Lake in Jasper Park Alberta. An unnamed mountain close to Capital mountain. I have my Nikon 100 to 400mm lens on the Z50II. I'm hoping to see wildlife, but on a clear day with great light....

A night-time photograph of the Mississauga, Ontario skyline. In the foreground, a clock tower with a red and blue base and two illuminated clock faces stands prominently. Behind it, several modern high-rise buildings are visible, with many windows lit up, and one featuring a distinctive wavy, stacked architectural design. The sky is dark and cloudy.
Don't try to sneak past the clock tower; it's always on the lookout and can hear everything.π

The land out here is like a poem, written by thousands of people, by those here and those gone, each generation scribbling a line or two. It's an ocean of land with stories all over it. The stories are people. The people are poems.

Museo Egizio Turin photo showing a small, dark-blue, core-formed, round glass jar which tapers in at the shoulders below the neck. It has yellow, white, and light blue festoon decoration trailed around the main body. There is a single yellow trail just below the neck of the jar. There is a dark-blue circular glass lid, the top of which is adorned with two dark-blue duck heads with yellow bills, a yellow trailed stripe on the top of each duckβs head, and indents for their eyes. The jar is displayed on a perspex (?) stand against a grey background. Glass jar dimensions: 7.6 cm x 9.6 cm. Core-forming is one of the earliest glassmaking techniques. Glassmakers shaped the body of the vessel around a core, wound colored trails around it. They then let the vessel cool and removed the core.
A 3,500 year-old Egyptian glass cosmetic jar with two little duck heads!
Glass was a relatively new material at that time, so this jar would have been a precious possession.

The image depicts a retaining wall constructed from large, rough-hewn stone blocks, arranged in a tiered, stepped fashion. Vibrant fall foliage, primarily in shades of brilliant red and some green, cascades over and around the stone blocks, creating a striking contrast against the grey of the wall. A few tree branches with green leaves are visible at the top, extending over the scene, while hints of a path or ground are visible at the bottom of the wall. Riverwood Conservancy, Mississauga, Ontario.
I can't be-leaf the amazing re-leaf I get from a beautiful cascade of fall leaves. π

Been shooting so much wildlife lately I've been missing shooting what got me interested in photography to start with, landscapes featuring the rich history and culture of Newfoundland...
Time to get back at some of that...
