there are three big symbolic themes crammed into the seven minutes (bugs/names/fire) that all interweave and overlap one another. maybe i will write about them all some other time

ray, for her part, has never been close enough to someone to receive a nickname, and her standoffish facade is interpreted by her peers as not caring one way or another. clementine’s earnestness marks her as the right person to ask for the favor of being called what she prefers, for the first time.

lines cut for time (7min is brutal). clementine, burdened by a disrespectful nickname she doesn’t want, struggles to understand how someone with a beautiful, imposing name (and matching appearance)—which inherently receives respect—could ever prefer a diminutive nickname.

After a long wait, the animated shorts from the Cartoon Cartoons program has finally started releasing. "A for Angel" definitely has potential. Perhaps not all hope is lost for Cartoon Network.
