idk. i guess i'm making peace preemptively with lcdt being republished for other peoples' gain. just makes me sad how much everything is marketing - it's not enough to make smoething cool, you also have to sell it more effectively than anyone else

this kind of thing is what makes me kind of never want to make anythiing cool
as i struggled to wake up my brain insisted on inventing "Hypha-tan", a moe mascot for the concept of mycelial decay as an end stage for complex life. in my mind's eye she's a weird too-wide face (think like ZUN level but uncanny and bad) emerging from a vague fuzzy cube to beg for dead animals
"are ya winning son" meme but all text is replaced with "he's actually beautiful flowers"
call him flowers the way he's actually beautiful
youtuber thumbnail with surprised face captioned "HOLD UP!! HE'S ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS???", and a picture of the super mario 64 metal cap and its reflection spheremap, an image of pink flowers
This is a very good image. Perhaps one of the best images
honestly i feel most limited by cost of materials and mental struggling lately lol. maybe a pallet of hardwood lumber
torn between a hot air rework station for electronics or a large cnc router for wood. or maybe just a table for sewing...
you know, on top of all the other reasons it's bad, i hate "let's make up slurs for robots!" because it buys into the extremely dangerous myth that LLMs are people, or very similar to people, which leads to misunderstanding them.
i'm going to try not to let "i don't like them" get in the way of understanding *what they are* and what they can do.
and at the same time, i'm going to try not to let the salesmen selling them use my intellectual curiosity as an in to get me on their side
we should understand these things because they're interesting and relevant. i've come to feel antipathy towards them but it's important to me that that not change my perception of the world - i, and we, have to trust our senses and our intellect about this because otherwise we will lose our way
for example, we assume it "knows" anything about what it is doing or "experiencing". but i'm not convinced chatbots do, there's a lot of evidence they don't, and it seems prima facie unlikely that they would. ask "did you actually read the file" and it answers probabilistically, not factually
out of the many reasons i'm not a fan of the current wave of generative ai... i find it hard to call it anything but a cognitohazard, that when something behaves like a conversational partner, we automatically start assuming it has all kinds of traits that it simply does not have
i say "could be possible" because i also think the companies and culture pushing them is making it very hard to use them responsibly and effectively
i think it could be possible to use the current wave of generative ai responsibly and effectively but honestly i'm just not very interested in trying for a bunch of reasons
i mean, i judge *some* people's ai usage. but generally i try to be light on judging people in general
i still haven't willingly used any chatbots or genai and i'm planning to stay that way until i have to! purity is made up tho. but like, it's not true that "everyone is using it", most of my friends don't! i don't like, judge you if you do, though. i just disagree i think!
missing my Purpose Gland
i'm looking into makeplayingcards as my next vendor and if they fail me i'll have to investigate more self fulfillment options
today i had a frustrating day working on tarot card printing but i think it was useful. i know more now and i have a plan for my next step
anyway i do love being trans
When someone says βScientists do not want you to knowβ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They canβt shut up about what they found out and want you to know.
i found another that has a marketplace and seems to have been aroundd for a while but their marketplace is also. kinda ugly
my printer-shopping routine is basically "search tarot card printing online and click all the results"
anyway do you have a... favorite card printer? i have a tarot deck and i'm shopping for printers for a small order
(i'd do the fulfillment myself (listing on etsy and then mailing out the cards which would be stocked at my house) because i have a lot of choices then for a printer who'dd be higher quality)
i'm considering doing fulfillment of orders for the physical cards myself, which i hadn't wanted to do, but might be doable if it's less than 50 orders. i just don't want this to spiral out of control you know? i have no idea how many sales to expect.
dear mother I cannot weave, slender aphrodite has destroyed my loom with a big hammer
i'd like to have some idea of how many decks of cards i'm gonna sell but idk how to... get that
i think today i want to do some kind of artistic work, and i would like to not feel panicky and bad like i did yessterday. towardds those goals i'm going to try to not spend today refreshing three websites. but i'll still post don't worry
i think maybe i feel a little bit less miserable today. gonna try doing smoe yoga
