My favorite part of this music video is when the backup singers sound like the screech of a banshee

It fascinates me that humans want this connection so much. It's SETI on planet Earth.
And that there's an openness to consciousness in machines, but less so* to identifying it in most sentient, intelligent, socially complex non-human animals.

*I'm talking public, not researchers in either case

Coming to terms with the possibility that referring to myself as a β€œdogshit writer” is no longer a statement of fact and instead an unfounded (mostly) expression of imposter syndrome.

Friend has done research on this and found that hostile sexism predicted interest in sexual relationships, but disinterest in friendships with AI

Fetterman, CCM… they still need 6 votes assuming they don’t lose Murk or Collins? They’ve also Gallego and Peters as is who didn’t vote for it in Nov either but are also the typical squishies.

Who else can they legitimately count on? Murphy? The NH sens?

That’s the weird thing. It’s not that much closer to the source material! They both deviate in baffling ways, just edge of tomorrow is genuinely a better film.

Agreed. Aside from the art, I don’t think this movie does anything particularly well that Edge of Tomorrow doesn’t do better. The only thing I hate after watching it recently is Tom Cruise’s awful smile. Watch the last scene of Edge of Tomorrow just to feel some awful cringe.

As a bald man, I refuse to listen to new age sociotechnological posturing from someone who is maintaining that hairline.

I think Quebec universities are really leading the charge on a lot of this stuff too. Haven’t seen much of an equivalent outside Quebec except maybe a bit in Mel Slater’s lab and labs that happen to be collaborating with Quebec academics.

Absolutely amazing amount of room for doing this from the theoretical/critical perspective! As someone who has done some of this work from the empirical side, I don’t think I can quite say the same.

I just received a review that was really really mean but had a great info in it about how to improve my paper. It’s really hard to keep going back to that review to pull the important insights when I have to read between the lines. It’s an interesting dichotomy that academia can be so (un)helpful.

I know the creative director. Great dude. They put a shitton of work into the lore and art. Excited to hear it’ll be on PS5.

I am no longer taking some of the very mean things in this review seriously.
