this past week i completely blew up my entire life: ended a 13 year relationship, moved out, wrapped up a ton of work on a huge grant-funded project, & now i no longer have a job…all while we’re watching fascists take power.

if i can get through all this, i can do anything.

as someone who has been trying for years to secure stable employment as a public servant (which is now looking like an even more distant dream): i fucking hate people who renege on their responsibilities to the public & our democracy as a whole. DO BETTER.

i’m pretty well convinced at this point that most dems are totally fine just raking in their paycheck & doing their insider trading. actually rising up to this moment is just, like, soooo much work, y’know???

When this breaks bad, Democrats will need the public firmly behind them. Unfortunately, with a few notable exceptions (AOC, Crockett, etc.), Democrats are doing a poor job of preparing the public for what's coming.

Democrats are viewed publicly as groveling and weak.

This is no way to fight an authoritarian government where public opinion is crucial.

As it stands, Democrats are just not in a sufficient position from which to operate in a post-constitutional environment. No one wants to follow the Chuck Schumer or Amy Klobuchar anywhere.

i mean…are we surprised they’re making this move? the only reason this place is ad free (at least for now) is because it’s backed by venture capitalists

In my self-defense classes I focus on how most people are socially conditioned to follow the norms of a civilized, polite society — and there is a MENTAL SHIFT required to use violence to defend from violence.
