No idea what the discourse you’re referring to is! I’m just an artist who follows you here! But IMO that’s super normal - I also didn’t really hit a stride until around 30. I’m amazed by a young artist who feels very confident in themself!

In the story an amazing thing is: the wizards basically learn that the other religion in the world is right about them. Wizards are cursed, reincarnation is a real thing in this world and they are destroying the circle of life. It's sad and fucked up. So. How does THAT map to OUR reality. Hmm.. idk
The metaphor or meaning in this interesting book is hard to see or say clearly. I feel something! It might be a good analog for Western philosophy [and its technology] going overboard...
Not every wizard is doing evil. Although a few are! But the good wizards see the effects of [Naming] magic and basically choose to abandon it, to live without it, to give up the dream of eternal life? Something like that... hard to capture in a tweet or two... hmm... but I've been thinking about it!
The wizards in Earthsea want to live forever. Something about that desire corrupts everything they touch (in terms of their magic, it's every living creature whose Real Name they use)- but the effect isn't felt until death, or after death, potentially for several generations as the issue builds up.
Thinking about Le Guin's last Earthsea book, The Other Wind. I thought about this morning as I took too many photos of River walking in the rain. I could just enjoy walking with him in the rain but I want to... what? immortalize this moment perfectly? Capture the perfect smile? Insane.

Sorry to be mad online but we just watched FLOW (Best Animated Feature Oscar winner 2024) and, uh, I thought it was awful. What was the story? Does it have anything to say? It's just a tech demo for Blender, right? Maybe cat lovers like this movie? Guess I haven't made a movie so I can't cricitize.
