Yes. Xiaolongbao.
Sunday morning goodness. Love these little gems.
Saturday morning in Shanghai. More western style breakfast today. Looking forward to tonight, we’re having a SH lockdown reunion party (and also to celebrate a couple milestone birthdays). Have a great weekend everyone.
Just because we lost an election doesn’t mean we were wrong. We’re still in this fight together.
Happy Thanksgiving from Shanghai. Though I am here, there are many places that offer a traditional Thanksgiving meal. As many of you know, my main hangout is Boxing Cat and they always put on a great dinner. Going with a longtime good friend tonight, it will be fun.
Delivery is very cheap, less than a dollar.
This chicken soup, delivered in less than 20 minutes, is my favorite. It comes in this crock pot and is so good. With some rice it’s a perfect lunch. When I finally retire and leave Shanghai, fast, delicious foods delivered to the door is one of the things I’ll miss most.
I turned white in my 50s
They are easy, they go on almost any sandwich or salad.
Saturday morning from my balcony in the Huangpu district of Shanghai. Beautiful day, sunny and perfect temperatures. It’s a smoked salmon, on an onion bagel type of morning (paired with a coffee and Baileys). Be good.
Yum!!
My other Friday tradition/anticipated post is your dinners in Beijing with your friends. I’ll be waiting!
Just post your travels, we all love seeing these places. Celebrate the Chinese people and all the great things about the culture here. It’s the reason we all stay.
Done.
For those that followed me on X, I have a tradition to call quitting time on Fridays and welcoming the weekend. To do that I announce that the adult seatbelt sign has been turned off and it’s time to pour and adult beverage. It is that time, the weekend pool is open (for you divers). Cheers!!
Good morning everyone! It’s Friday and it’s sunny. Let’s do something special today and help someone, be a mentor, friend, reach out to your loved ones. Let’s do this!
Had my stir fried cauliflower (with Sichuan chili pepper flakes) for dinner. My favorite dish here. Finished my evening walk and now time for some movie before bed. Not thrilling but that’s my routine.
It suddenly cooled down in Shanghai today. Now I'm lying in bed and turning on the electric blanket. Very warm.
It is my absolute favorite now.
Yea, slowly spending more time here.
Back to cooking, it’s cooler outside so it’s time for the clay pot and some Chinese cabbage (with pork belly). Perfect with rice.
Back to my lunchtime walks, good news, with the cooler weather I can walk in the local neighborhoods.
Is there a breakdown of the roles/jobs they hold now vs then?
Shanghai on a cool grey Monday morning. Back to the office this week, lots to catch up on. Also need to plan my turkey dinner plans for Thursday. Have a great day everyone
Sunday evening, early dinner. Ordered delivery, wasn’t in the mood to cook. My favorite cauliflower and mapo tofu. Spicy and perfect with rice. I need to get out later for a walk. Have a great day everyone
"The US is a status quo power that wants to maintain peace. Beijing is a dynamic, non-status quo power that wants to remake the region under a new Chinese hegemony."

I don’t know
Back in Shanghai, warmer than Beijing but the traffic is horrible getting home from Hongqiao airport.
