I think they might have better luck spending two thousand dollars holding a press conference where they detail who made the key decisions to collaborate with the Trump administration, how and when they were fired, and explaining what would stop that from happening again.
Can we unpack which agents (people, organizations) have obeyed in advance--and provided either existing counterexamples or imagined alternatives for what actions could have been taken instead?
Could maybe find a way to run resistance drills, like fire drills.
Not just free movement, though--the change suggested here would change the relationship of the data to the tools.
I'd like to see more protections of personal data. HIPAA but for personal data and its mis-/use.
In the late 60s, IBM was forced to unbundle software from hardware. It's time to do the same for data and applications.
It is repulsive to me -- morally, aesthetically, politically -- on a scale that I genuinely don't know how to describe. It's just so deeply, deeply gross, to be so filled with weakness that you abuse other, weaker people to feel better. What a horrible kind of human, to do that, to *allow* that.
