I consider people who say we can’t do this or we can’t do that to be counter to Canadian/Albertan/Calgarian culture, at least according to their own personal views. We figured out how to separate oil from sand. They’re proud of the things we created. But we can’t do socialism? Ya right.
A lot of courses are electives by the time we hit Grade 11, like law was for me. Just have fewer electives.
It’s been a long time since I was in high school and that was in Ontario. But as I understand it, topics around law and civics are more sprinkled in throughout the curriculum rather than being their own courses. I think we need that semester-long focus to truly build that foundation of knowledge.
I think we can all agree we could learn some more practical stuff in high school. This is made very obvious by our glorious premier when she says dumb things like appointing judges who are more govt friendly. That’s not how it works, Danielle! #ableg #abpoli

It’s bad enough that Danielle Smith’s referendum BS will divide non-immigrants and immigrants. The part I hate more is how it’ll inevitably pit immigrants who did it “the right way” against those who are doing it “the wrong way”.

Hey it’s me, a racialized person born in Alberta to an immigrant parent, with trans and queer friends, saying that the UCP does not get to determine who belongs here. All of us, and the Albertans yet to come, deserve to be here. And we must stand with Indigenous people to honour treaty promises.

The Alberta government spent $70 million to get medicine that couldn’t be used, couldn’t be given away, and then was ultimately destroyed which cost $718,000. It also cost $478,000 to store. Tell me again how the UCP is the party of fiscal responsibility?

All the UCP’s changes to municipal elections made the election worse. It was actually awful. The counting centre was chaotic despite all the best efforts of the workers. It took 4 hours to count only the mayor’s advance votes. By the same time in 2021, we knew the full council results. #yyc #yyccc
