"a classic slow-burner... surprisingly luxuriant, a place to get lost in the unspoken and the unknown, and for six minutes to escape the buzz and clamour of the world that, sometimes thankfully, only exists outside of your headphones."
Thank you For the Rabbits for writing about bobbie!

"It’s hard to imagine anyone else making the line 'smashing 40s in the parking lot' sound as otherworldly as Margaret McCarthy does... Moontype has a penchant for imbuing surprising images like this with reverential grace."

My first review of 2026 and I’m starting out with a bang. I love this new record by Robert Stillman, a delightful mix of synth-pop, spiritual jazz, and tuneful psychedelia. “10,000 Rivers” is now available everywhere
"Stillman’s universe is a fascinating and open-ended one, constantly expanding."
Big thanks to Jeff Terich for reviewing Robert Stillman's new album 10,000 Rivers for Treble Zine.
"There's an echo of the plastic transparency of '80s soft-pop, but fed through the oneiric strangeness and dissembled, improvisatory tone-poems of the likes of Lonnie Holley or Arthur Russell; Stillman is similarly idiosyncratic in his approach and expression." – UNCUT

"No Off" takes this idea as a point of departure-it is a tragic dream (sung from Jobs's perspective) of physical transcendence through perfect life engineering. The video articulates these ideas through a sculpture, responding specifically to the image of 'a vessel made of glass' in the lyrics.
In Stillman's words: "No Off" is a song about Steve Jobs's greatest design project: himself. One of his colleagues astutely interpreted Jobs's elimination of the 'off' button from his devices as an expression of his fear of death.
"No Off" is the new video from Robert Stillman's forthcoming album 10,000 Rivers (out January 9, 2026). 10,000 Rivers is a speculative suite of jazz, ambient & smooth pop-inspired compositions that challenge the myths of Silicon Valley's early '90s techno-utopianism.

New Robert Stillman album out January 9, 2026!

I’m really loving the beautiful new album from Greg Jamie, which I reviewed for PopMatters.
Alongside Greg Jamie's ragged aesthetic is a sense of wonder and personal discovery that gives 'Across a Violet Pasture' a unique stamp. #PMPick

Composer Matt Bachmann's instrumental LP 'Compost Karaoke' is adventurous and unpredictable, with the record's connective tissue being the variety of styles and moods throughout.
