freelancing + academia has made me get 1000% more mad at the suggestion that people should work for free
This is my first time hearing about your show, I am about halfway through playing elden ring for the first time now so excited to listen when Iβm done!

It's honestly miraculous Traji was able to bring her sweet baby Ayla into the world in the midst of actual literal famine. Please help Traji protect this fragile little life if you're at all able.

A painting of momos in orange broth.
Iβve been experimenting with watercolor paints, hereβs a painting of the Altus plateau in Elden Ring and a painting of the momo jhol I had for lunch.
This video is great, especially Peterβs focus on the multiplayer aspect. As he says, I really hope people working at any outlets will take this opportunity to boycott Xbox games coverage. This motivated me to double check the studios of things I cover.
tbh Iβve found it weird for a long time how much cultural space military shooters get to take up given what they are advertisements for and represent
A man asked me last night what publishing needs to do for literary fiction to begin appealing to men again. I said, as nicely as I could, that, with over 2,000 books published every Tuesday, of which many would appeal to men, itβs not a publishing problem, itβs a men problem.
so exciting!

any time I see or hear βitβs not [just] ___, itβs ___β no matter where or in what context the AI signal goes off now
The cover of the March 2026 issue of Exploits, featuring βWinter Coast,β by Winslow Homer, 1890 art portraying a hunter on a snowy beach. Text at the bottom indicates that this issue covers Heated Rivalry, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, About a Place in the Kinki Region, Do It, On Becoming a Guinea Fowl, and School Spirits.
Bundle up -- it's still cold out there. This month's issue of Exploits includes micro-criticism on everything from Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE to School Spirits.

I donβt think anyone whoβs made it through the pod phase of LIB has ever read that
Iβm convinced he chat-gptd a summary of the Alchemist as a plot to entrap this woman
guy on love is blind recommending The Alchemist is so funny. Like that book every US student reads in high school? you would love that.
Not mentioning the writer or sharing their post, but I think a lot of mainstream news editors tend to understate (sometimes with deliberate malice) the power that a newspaper has by simply being an outlet of record that regularly runs editorial that defends the worst actions of a state.

It's been 4 years since the release of the original Perfect Tides. I wrote down some feelings about it on my blog:

My combo interview-review of Station to Station featuring @meredithgran.com is now up for non-subscribers:
thought brought to you by a vox podcast where the male host asks a female researcher βwill current politics make this issue better or worse?β and she just stares at him like π
Disco Elysium text: βAre women bourgeois? Oh god, thatβs bad. Surely I can think of something better."
The way US birth rates and youth isolation is talked about as a male problem that can be solved if women just deal with it drives me nuts and itβs so pervasive in every area. Literally this but unironically
Folks, the government didn't kill PBS. It's still here even after funding has been cut. You can donate $5 or more and get access to a ton of their stuff on streaming too, including lots of local shows. It's a good deal.

Much like fire emblem games, Mitski albums alternate being pretty ok and being the best thing youβve ever experienced
it is weird to know the peak of success as a content creator is "many brand deals and a podcast with multiple advertisers" while I was taught in journalism school how some reporters do not drink coffee at press events to avoid conflicts of interests

Intoletable. How anyone's response to this can be anything other than abject rage and disgust is beyond me.
