I'm on my yearly reread (along andy serkis's audiobooks) of #LOTR + Silm and I just realized something; I thought I wasn't into audiobook at all (except for Lotr/silm/hobbit every year since they've been recorded), but it's just that Andy Serkis ruined me for any other narrator πππ

Most watched actor for me this year is bill skarsgard and most watch director is Peter Jackson
I did a Skarsgard Family marathon this year so it explains the 1st I guess. And the second, I'm a Tolkien fan and LOTR/Hobbit movies are my comfort movies so I probably logged them in #Letterboxd more than all my other watch parties put together, like every year π€£

Riffing on the classic horror story The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers, Bram Stoker Awardβwinning author Hailey Piper tells the story of Carmen, who is bored in her relationship and anxious that sheβs losing her hold on her girlfriend, Blanca. In an effort to keep Blanca interested, Carmen has been pushing her physical boundaries, ultimately leading her to discover a play that makes its readers feel euphoric β at a cost. Carmen is warned that reading too much of the play will drive her insane, but she keeps chasing the high she feels when she reads it, seeking out more and more of the text. As she reads, her sense of reality begins to slip in horrifying waysβ¦ but she canβt stop.
The Best Horror Books of 2025, article by Jeff Somers, showing the cover of Katabasis by R.F. Kuang amid lit candles
While I feel it's a bit early to nail down any best-of-the-year lists, I'm glad Bookbub enjoyed A GAME IN YELLOW and gave it a place among these terrific horror titles of 2025 so far by Alma Katsu, RF Kuang, Rachel Harrison, Stephen King, Stephen Graham Jones & more π

Greyscale drawing on a 6x8 piece of paper. The character stands strong in the center of the canvas. She has a curvy, plus size figure and wears a halter top and skirt that expose her stomach. The stomach has stretch marks, proudly on display. Her one leg is bent, thighs soft with cellulite. Gold leaf accents swirl around her arms in an implication of magic. She looks ever part the goddess she is.

Remind me again, which one of those beliefs caused more death?
And, now we have the AI god. Ironic, isnβt it?
