This problem isn't new in football or isolated to just the Women's game but it is disrespectful. We are lucky to work with an incredible network of broadcasters, stadium announcers and fan groups who are trying very hard to get it right ...
This means every weekend a club in the Women's game will pronounce their own players wrong as they step onto the pitch ...
The WSL is also now massive, with coverage of games spanning multiple countries and languages. This happens whilst at the same time whilst also not been anywhere as big or respected as the Men's game ...
This season the WSL put out some videos showing different players saying their own names. As highlighted by Kerstin Casparij on Snapchat, just because that video had an anglicised version of their name, it doesn't mean that is the preferred pronunciation...
Different broadcasters will also have different levels of support on this issue....
Every team will have players whose names are 'easy' to pronounce so a text guide is omitted. These are still frequently mispronounced. Added to this text guides go wrong a lot. Different countries and different parts of the UK will not pronounce the text guide the same way ...

At the start of the season commentators, broadcasters and pundits don't get a comprehensive list of player name pronunciations. They might get a list for each team with some players annotated with a text pronunciation guide...
