#TLSkyChat A8: Being named the 2024 Georgia Library Media Specialist of the Year was a pretty proud (and shocking) moment for me. My district still has not recognized that I received this award, but my students know and they were so happy for me. That means the most because I do what I do for them.

# TLSkyChat A5: I do my best to prove these views outdated by sharing about our media programs on SM and on our school platforms to let our school community know that we’re doing more than just checking out/in books and shelving them.
#TLSkyChat A5: Stereotypes I really dislike is that librarians sit and read all day, that it is always quiet in the library and that it is an easy, stress free job.
TLSkyChat A4: Students are writing what they love about our media center and I post them on a bulletin board.
#TLSkyChat A3: I also have School Library Month book displays up right now.
#TLSkyChat A3: We have out 2nd StickTogether poster of the year going on now. Students earn a sticker when they return books and checkout more. I also have a digital counter for the number of books checked out this year that I update daily.
#TLSkyChat A3: I have a stats bulletin board as you walk into to media center that gives info like how many books in our collection, how many class visits, new books, etc. I update it monthly.

#TLSkyChat A2: I am also going to set up a StoryWalk for the book The Loud Librarian by Jenna Beatrice. And I plan to give out book stickers to staff, and add pictures from different programs we’ve done in the media center this year.
#TLSkyChat A2: We’re going on SB next week, but when we come back, I am setting up a book scavenger hunt. The prize bag will have a book for the class who finds it to put in their classroom library and small prizes like bookmarks for each student.

#TLSkychat A1 con’d: I took an into to media class and an intro to instructional tech and enjoyed media more. I’ve always had a passion for books so becoming a media specialist merged my love of edtech and books. And 14 years later, I’m still rocking this gig. 😁
#TLSkychat A1: I was a classroom T ready for a change. I transitioned to a computer lab position and ❤️ed it bc I love edtech, but it was a Title I position that was never guaranteed each year. Principal encouraged me to pursue Masters in Media. 3 yrs of interviews & I landed my current position.
