I tried to grow one like this, and spectacularly failed! I assumed it would want a dry, sunny spot, but that virtually killed it. Can I ask what conditions yours seems to like? Because it looks STUNNING, so whatever you're doing must be working!

A selection of the strawflowers I grew this year. The colour palette reminds me of Fruit Salad sweets from when I was a child. Each cost a few pence from the corner shop.

Present me is currently very grateful to past me for deciding to harvest the last of the apples a few days ago, when it was dry and still. I'm currently watching everything in the garden being blown at quite an alarming angle, and getting absolutely soaked.

Ooh great find! I had them on my cherry tree last year - I've been keeping an eye out but it seems they might not be making an appearance this year. They're such fun/weird-looking things.

My shieldbug highlights from the garden this year - Juniper Shieldbug, which we've had for a few years, but this year I've seen quite a few of them, and Blue Shieldbug, which I've never seen in the garden until this year. Very exciting! 😄

I don't know what it is about me and nasturtiums, but I struggle to get them to grow, and the few that I have only seem to get going in September. I wish I could achieve a flowing mass of flowers all summer like I see elsewhere, but this will have to do!

Yesterday was the last warm (ish) day here, so I spent all day in the garden. Finished pruning the Portuguese Laurel, did a few other odd jobs, and took some photos of things before they all became soggy and sad-looking!

Oh they're beautiful! A house near me used to have a whole swathe of then in their front garden, but new people moved in and dug them all out. So nice to see these!
