I need you all to understand that I went to my local Dunkin to get coffee and the middle-aged white woman working the counter who knows me cuz I'm a regular went "wait, is that uh... shit, is that uh, sukihime (said incorrectly)" and my brain froze for a full second before I said yes

Not sure but I wouldn't be surprised
I heard that Akihiko Yoshida did the textures for the main FFXII cast himself, which explains a lot as to why that game looks so damn good
There are two types of friends

I feel like Maid Robot Master has the edge here, if only because Capcom absolutely knows she's going to get *so much* fanart
To quote myself: "Logically speaking, my CactusMan design doesn't make sense for Capcom to choose for this game."
Anyway, it just made it to the top 6
you know
shibuya kaho is kind of cool as shit
the way she came out of an industry that has historically been extremely terrible to its workers only to create her own success.
her story is just, so much. what a crazy cool person.

Never played ranked. I am level 21 in VF5REVO forever and I am fine with that
Ranked is wack for dozens of reasons that I've written about before, but the problem is that it really does retain players to stick around and play a lot more early on than they would otherwise by pushing a lot of gambling buttons in the brain to keep people playing. Q-UP is a great example.
Excellent picks’
He thought it was a routine ICE check-in. Now his family fears he’ll be deported to a country where he is not safe.
looking at the GDC talks for this year and this kinda sums it up, huh
This article aptly captures the real state of Japanese game dev right now. For years, companies have prioritized outsourcing/contract hires because of fewer legal obligations. But as this piece describes, it also lets them skirt around layoff laws by ceasing to contract that external work at all.
This is the era to take detailed notes on who the Business Idiots are. Every single person who bought into this at this scale has outed themselves as an untrustworthy individual with questionable taste

Holy shit, this is huge. Cream Lemon is important to the entire medium of anime, so many people who would go on to make great things cut their teeth on this one
Also, to echo everyone: yes, Pop Chaser is really that good
The Space Invaders getting faster as they got closer/their numbers thinned could be interpreted like this, I think
Pokémon Red & Green sold poorly in Japan when they launched in 1996, only catching on months later. Apples and oranges, I know, but this is indicative of the shift in how execs at game publishers, streaming services, and Hollywood studios need instant results or they pull the plug. It's unhealthy.
If anyone wants a write-up/coverage of this drop me a line, I’m local and down to enjoy some cool indie games and talk with devs

"Why haven't fighting games died yet?"
I wrote about the unique strengths of the fighting game genre that have allowed fighting games to survive multiple generations of evolution intact, and why you didn't fall in love with a product. Warning: This is a long one.
