Banging quote from Mark Ruffalo - our community has fought so hard to protect wildlife from disturbance in our bay - and couldn't have done it without the help from our friends @wildjustice.bsky.social @markavery.bsky.social @chrisgpackham.bsky.social @robthomasbirds.bsky.social and many more...
A victory for wildlife and the community - and it raises the question - has the @pembscoast.bsky.social authority been fully informed about the impact of coasteering at other sites in Pembrokeshire where it appears no environmental impact assessments have ever been done?
Time to put wildlife first
This was a landmark victory for wildlife - thanks to @wildjustice.bsky.social but it raises the important question - - why haven't Environmental Impact Assessments or equivalent been undertaken for other coasteering routes in Pembrokeshire? What wildlife might have been disturbed at other sites?
Diolch, thank you from Ceibwr Bay and all the wildlife and community to Wild Justice and the amazing team of lawyers at Leigh Day who believed in protecting and defending this special part of Wales @wildjustice.bsky.social @chrisgpackham.bsky.social @markavery.bsky.social @gill-lewis.bsky.social
Thank you 🙏 It’s been an amazing community achievement - hope it can kickstart vital conversations and actions to ensure adventure tourism can be truly sustainable. The lack of monitoring or enforcement is of deep concern.
Good news - we won our challenge in Wales!
Judge rules planning permission for outdoor adventure centre in Pembrokeshire is unlawful because of environmental concerns.

Utterly brilliant. Our community @cadwceibwr.bsky.social is so grateful to WJ for supporting us to protect the wildlife. We are frustrated that coasteering has been happening this year on nesting sites and seal pupping areas - we have asked landowner @nationaltrust.org.uk why access is allowed?

A community victory to protect wildlife & wild places - it’s vital this landmark decision raises scrutiny of impacts of adventure tourism @huwirrancadaviesms.bsky.social
Coasteering still happening on nesting & pupping sites.
Surely time for licensing @pcfcic.bsky.social @pembscoast.bsky.social
“Adventure Hub plans quashed over environmental concerns”
A landmark result. Huge thanks to @wildjustice.bsky.social
It’s vital that this will ensure greater protections for wildlife in @pembscoast.bsky.social

Any budding young naturalists/readers out there who would like 3 @gill-lewis.bsky.social books? I’d love to gift these to someone who would enjoy them. I’ll cover postage :)
Screenshot of a para from Catherine Johnson’s blog on winning the prize. Para reads: “It’s a real honour, as someone who has spent my writing life writing the sorts of books that do alright, that gain a – shall we say – select readership, this prize is special. It’s about social justice, it’s about saying young lives and young people’s opinions are vital, and it’s about books that deliver fantastic stories. I can’t thank the judges enough for choosing Freedom from a brilliant shortlist that included The Ghosts and Jamal by Bridget Blankley, Across the Divide by Anne Booth,Running on Empty by S.E. Durrant, The King Who Banned the Dark by Emily Haworth-Booth, Tomorrow by Nadine Kadaan, and The New Neighbours by Sarah McIntyre. Thanks to Letterbox Library and Housmans and the CLPE who hosted the evening in their stunning library.”
