A victory for wildlife and the community - and it raises the question - has the @pembscoast.bsky.social authority been fully informed about the impact of coasteering at other sites in Pembrokeshire where it appears no environmental impact assessments have ever been done?
Time to put wildlife first

This was a landmark victory for wildlife - thanks to @wildjustice.bsky.social but it raises the important question - - why haven't Environmental Impact Assessments or equivalent been undertaken for other coasteering routes in Pembrokeshire? What wildlife might have been disturbed at other sites?

Thank you 🙏 It’s been an amazing community achievement - hope it can kickstart vital conversations and actions to ensure adventure tourism can be truly sustainable. The lack of monitoring or enforcement is of deep concern.

Utterly brilliant. Our community @cadwceibwr.bsky.social is so grateful to WJ for supporting us to protect the wildlife. We are frustrated that coasteering has been happening this year on nesting sites and seal pupping areas - we have asked landowner @nationaltrust.org.uk why access is allowed?

Screenshot of a para from Catherine Johnson’s blog on winning the prize. Para reads: “It’s a real honour, as someone who has spent my writing life writing the sorts of books that do alright, that gain a – shall we say – select readership, this prize is special. It’s about social justice, it’s about saying young lives and young people’s opinions are vital, and it’s about books that deliver fantastic stories. I can’t thank the judges enough for choosing Freedom from a brilliant shortlist that included The Ghosts and Jamal by Bridget Blankley, Across the Divide by Anne Booth,Running on Empty by S.E. Durrant, The King Who Banned the Dark by Emily Haworth-Booth, Tomorrow by Nadine Kadaan, and The New Neighbours by Sarah McIntyre.
