I was fondly remembering those days recently, also. Flickr, G+ - it felt more personal and social. SM today doesn’t feel that way to me. Maybe it’s because I’ve changed too.

It’s become a capitalist and propaganda wasteland. Seems that’s what happens to everything. I find it pretty depressing. I’m OK with fleeting interactions. I just think a lot of us are lonely and not even seeing one another because of all the noise.

If social media use doesn’t generate interactions, it’s not very social, is it?

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

I sent a feedback ticket earlier today. I just scrolled the media tab and it looks like the images are back. Whew!

Well, apparently I’m also not able to upload images to post anymore, either. Is anybody else experiencing this?

I tried to upload a screen recording of a scroll through my media tab’s feed to show what I mean, but it won’t let me. Keeps saying “video failed to process.”

I just decided to scroll through my media tab to find an image I posted here in the past. What I discovered is that I can’t see the majority of images I’ve shared here.

Can anybody help me understand why?

There’s plenty of info out there about how harmful these “tools” are, from the cognitive/psychological impact on the user, to the theft of artists’ IP, to the environmental and long term societal impact,

It is so depressing to me to see how many people are willing to feed ChatGPT and use gen AI just to see a cartoon of themselves that nobody, including them, will care about in a week.

I hear you and I agree - it’s why I came back a couple years ago after leaving SM (and being MUCH more healthy mentally for it) but more and more (again), my brain is whispering, “at what cost?”

I haven’t made any photos in a long time. Finding other ways to stay creative, though. Lots of doodling, some embroidery, painting, etc. planning on learning to crochet soon. And trying to not use SM as much anymore (again). It used to be more beautiful than harmful, but I fear that time has passed.
