An early incarnation of Dennis: a boy with a spiky mop of black hair and bandy, knobbly-kneed legs, walks down a street carrying a tin of red paint, watched suspiciously by a policeman
It’s the 75th anniversary of a man in Dundee called David Law creating the “world’s wildest boy”, who lived in the pages of The Beano, and later that same year acquired a stripy jumper which he never again took off – and in 1968 got a dog as disciplined as its owner: Gnasher 🧵

The Benefit of Belonging
Home is more than just a place.
I’m starting to think “home” isn’t a place — it’s a feeling you spend your life quietly chasing
Wrote about belonging, nostalgia, and the strange comfort of familiar voices this week.

The Benefit of Liking... Lego
Finding the joy is something already joyful
The Grandstand vidiprinter is a time machine.
That sound and I’m back at my Nan’s on a Saturday afternoon waiting for the Everton score
What does that for you?
I thought I was writing about Lego this week, but I was writing about nostalgia.

Just a month ago the UK agreed to a deal in which the NHS has to pay £3bn a year more for US drugs.
The only thing we got was an agreement the UK would face no tariffs.
Today that deal has been broken by the USA.
The deal must be torn up and no money stolen from the NHS.

I see we've Tony Harrington's refereeing the game tonight - bar the last time we had him, at Man City, he's rather fond of giving Idrissa Gueye a card. One to watch, perhaps, as he'd been booked three times from the last four games Harrington's been in the middle.
