Because they ended up having no depth, it was really easy to hard match them, and they generally didn’t get the same treatment PP wise as they should’ve in the playoffs

tbf given their two-way play at the time, it wasn't far off. The wrist injuries have screwed Matthews up
I mean, it's also a bit of a competitive balance things and would complicate trades with term. Just allowing a 10% overage would be helpful but keeping it like this sucks, especially given how often injuries happen in the playoffs
given the price of RHDs, Canucks should've explored that Hronek market a lot more.
I mean, Florida is also guilty and Tampa as well. It should just be the postseason 10% over allowance. Don't allow people to go insane but allow a little load up
The #Canucks got more for Garland and Sherwood than McMann which is amusing
also the playoff salary cap is bad. Allow teams to go over a little. Get some loaded playoff teams. Make it fun.
Canucks have made "a couple of minor moves" I'm told.
Will know more soon.
sure, but you're getting + value compared to what he went for. It might be two 2nds instead of a 2nd and a 3rd, or a 1st and a 4th, but he would've had a little more value (especially with retention and/or taking money back)
I think Tampa exclusively used him on the wing. Given what the team did with Reichel, who knows lol
he's not a C at least
capitals acquiring Liljegren to go along with Sandin is very funny
ahhh nice, a 6'9" enforcer to insulate the youth and generate some entertainment through good ol' fashioned fisticuffs
ehhh you probably get a 1st+ because I think most teams are aware you can't put too much stock into how Canucks are performing currently given *points at everything*
(it's kind of funny seeing the conversation around Pettersson being the same as OEL at the end of his Canucks tenure)
buying out Pettersson would be the absolute dumbest thing the Canucks could do with him. If you're dead set on just punting him off the roster, it's cheaper and better to retain half of his contract.
They buyout hit is $2.75M, $4.305M, $6.5M, $10.5M for 3 years, then $2.15M for 6.
Maybe they’ll learn how to play defensively in time for the playoffs
Caps are smart in reloading though. Gives them some assets to go big game shopping.
I’d have liked them to get someone more defensive to play with Zellweger or Mintyukov. Or someone younger because that’s a decent price to pay for and expiring D
Also the Jets getting a 2nd, a 4th, and Isak Rosen for Stanley and Schenn is a TBOB
Think he’ll be very happy about wearing red, white, and blue.
John Carlson to the Ducks is a weird trade.
Always amazes me how long it took for him to get minutes. Was by far their best forward in that 23-24 series against the Canucks
They weren’t even paying enough to meet the minimum requirement for medical staff at the nhl level to help protect their multi-million dollar assets a few seasons ago. They ain’t paying for better scouts.
Are they finally giving evangelista playing time too?
Yep. I just ultimately think it won’t matter much unless ownership gets serious about spending money on non-roster things and allows the GM to fully manage things
A comic strip with three panels. The first panel is a guy riding a bike with a stick in one hand. The second panel is him putting the stick in his front wheel. The third panel is him laying on the ground hurt because he crashed his bike by putting the stick in the front wheel.
The JR era
Given Shanahan’s body of work in Toronto, especially the later stages, he’s a “stay very clear” hire.
Fought against adding scoring depth on numerous occasions despite that being the Leafs’ biggest playoff issue.
To be fair, FA destroyed the franchise by letting Benning run on as long as he did, by refusing to rebuild back in 2013, by being cheap, and by likely meddling in day-to-day hockey ops choices.
Wouldn’t be shocked if he wanted garland re-signed
Whatever value he might gain from bouncing back would likely be offset by him having full control over where he goes. Also run the risk he doesn’t bounce back.
The extension is the issue for the low return
