It's so true. I'm finally finding high quality reporting through links shared here in a way that I haven't been able to on the other platforms in almost a decade.
✍️ My report from the first Political Tech Summit in Berlin.
Die Linke reports a surge of over 11,000 new members in the last two weeks, seeing its membership grow to its largest since 2010. www.rnd.de/politik/link...
Today I joined 160,000 Berliners walking from the Bundestag to the offices of the CDU, to protest their shocking firewall-breaking vote with the AfD. This week, an idea has galvanized Germany's democratic opposition to the AfD: “We are the firewall”.
... and the memes ...
Heidi Reichinnek -- one of the leaders of Die Linke -- taking down CDU Leader Merz for breaking the firewall with the AfD for an anti-immigrant legislation.
Perhaps most alarmingly, the CDU — has signaled an increasing willingness to break the “firewall” that all democratic parties have maintained from the far right AfD. This week, their leader Merz chipped away at this firewall, which AfD leader Weidel celebrated. www.dw.com/en/will-germ...
Meanwhile, the AfD hosted Elon Musk at their rally, where he told Germans to be proud and forget the sins of their parents.

Fellow Millennials, we’ve accomplished a lot together. ‘Killing’ so many things that boomers held dear. If we all set our sights on it, we can put an end to Meta, too. Meta wouldn’t exist without us, it’s time to do what we do best. Let’s get to work in 2025! I believe in us.

I’m so ready for the de-Reels-ified open protocol replacement for IG 🙏
When I explain to my American friends & fam why I haven’t moved back since I left 8 years ago, and don’t have a plan to move back, this is one of the top reasons. Living my life without a car, with access to abundant and high functioning train/tram/bus/rail infrastructure, brings so many benefits.
Here’s what the AfD are up to: dropping fake “deportation plane tickets” in the mailboxes of people whose name doesn’t sound German. www.euronews.com/my-europe/20...
Considering this research that generative AI is also harmful to critical thinking capacity, imagine the painful cocktail of problems this presents. People going to a source which produces factually incoherent outputs, and lacking critical thinking skills to debug them. www.mdpi.com/2075-4698/15...
I've seen some hilariously false information generated by ChatGPT so many times now I think you'd be a fool to trust it. Even funnier that if you prompt it to confirm the false information, it fesses up immediately. Save the embarassment, do not send out generated content as your own work!
I've been reading Post-Growth Living for an Alternative Hedonism, by Kate Soper. Here's a short essay taste of it if that topic interests you. placesjournal.org/article/alte...
Cord Jefferson, quitting Instagram, sums many things up:
“I don’t need Instagram to be a haven for free speech for the same reason I don’t need a Jamba Juice or a Hooters to be a haven for free speech.”
Simplify your life. Live in the real world. Smell the flowers. Sit and stare at the wall instead of endless scrolling.

"In its panicked retreat from the system it spent years building, Meta may now be putting billions of users at risk. Just because Meta deleted that line about hateful speech causing offline violence doesn't mean it isn't true."

Let’s be clear—the fact checkers have not “been” politically biased as Zuck suggests, but have been *perceived as such* because of politically motivated efforts to smear them, one that Zuck is now participating in and capitulating to. 1/
Mark Zuckerberg is ending factchecking, moving Meta’s moderators to Texas, appointed top Republican Joel Kaplan to head of global affairs, & invited pro-Trump UFC CEO Dana White onto his board.
Bending the knee? He has full-on, enthusiastically, rolled over for Trump & wants his belly tickled next.
"Misinformation is powerful, not because it changes minds, but because it allows people to maintain their beliefs in light of growing evidence to the contrary. The internet may function not so much as a brainwashing engine but as a justification machine." www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...
Absolutely wild to compare today's about face to the receipts, like when Zuckerberg penned this post four years ago after January 6th. www.facebook.com/zuck/posts/1...
