Does anyone happen to know where I can watch Ellie Kam & Danny O'Shea's free skate from the team event two weeks ago? I'm trying to show a friend who missed it
My LJ posts from 20 years ago would get flagged as AI if em-dashes were a reliable indicator of LLM generation. You can't boil it down to whether one particular piece of punctuation is present.
(which we solved by replacing them all at the same time, thereby kicking the can down the road another ten years)
Fun fact: if you live in a recently-built residence, the builder likely installed all the smoke alarms at the same time, from the same batch, which means they all start expiring around the same time several years later. Such a delight (not) having to track down the beeping one on a weekly basis. π¬
Awww c'mon Seattle, don't break shit when partying about the Seahawks
Just be cool and have fun
I second this recommendation! And her next book in the series comes out in just a few weeks, so now is an ideal time to get this first one.
(btw space sci-fi fans who #knit might find this book of particular interest βΊοΈπ§Ά)
That's really cool! We had small kids then so didn't get to go party, but yeah. An amazing night.
SEATTLE: important question for the locals after last night's celebrations:
Did the pergola survive?

And then people accidentally broke the pergola in Pioneer Square, causing $25K in damages... and crowdfunded the repair costs.
So the intersection of SW Alaska and California Ave SW is a 4-way pedestrian signal β all cars stopped while fans rushed into the middle of the street with the walk sign and ran out when the red hand came back.
For those who missed it 12 years ago, this was people in Ballard making sure to obey traffic lights while celebrating the Seahawks' first-ever Super Bowl win. πππ
I am so looking forward to this round of #howSeattleRiots πππ
(which might not even be a thing)
Earlier today I spent like an hour in a room that I suspect has a serious mildew/mold problem (NOT my house or anywhere I regularly spend time, thank goodness) and now I'm going all hypochondriac thinking every little thing like watery eyes and runny nose are signs that I've been mold poisoned.
Last night's episode had me, as the kids put it, shook. I have to stop myself there because it's too good to risk spoilers. π―π―π―
Are you watching him on The Traitors this season? It's pretty good.
Feeling lazy, going to see how well it works to use gnocchi instead of homemade dumplings in this chicken stew.
DHS is already required by law to cooperate with state probes.
CBP is not ICE.
Warrants for arrests are already required by law + 4th Amendment.
ICE is perfectly content with standing outside churches/schools and kidnapping people as they come out.
Democrats think weβre stupid and easily fooled.
I'm still kind of spinning my wheels trying to get this crochet editing thing off the ground. I did identify two key things I feel like I need to have in place before I can move forward, so that's progress I guess? I am extremely lucky that this is a side gig and I have the luxury to flail around. π¬
You reminded me that Iβd been thinking of buying this pattern. Done!
Stimulants don't replace that missing dopamine, btw. They just build a big wooden fence around the track so that we can't see the carnival across the street.
By the way, that last part is critical. For those of us with ADHD, our brains have been conditioning us since childhood to expect this overpromising and underdelivering.
No wonder our minds try to wander off to something that "pays" better (i.e. actually gives us a dopamine hit)
Imagine someone says every time you run a lap I'll hand you $5. You start running laps, but they hand you only $2 each lap or even $1 or $0. How long do you keep running?
Now imagine the $5 is dopamine, the lap is basically any task, & you've been under-rewarded this way all your life.
That's ADHD.
So anyway I have good memories associated with this game. I picked up the remastered versions a couple years ago and have tried occasionally to convince my kid to give it a shot. I'm excited to see how (whether) he takes to it.
Halo 1, 2 and 3 all came out while Jeff & I were still at MSFT. My workgroup would play after-hours PvP on the giant screens in the conf rooms. When Halo 2 was released Jeff & I stayed past midnight one night playing co-op (not an innuendo) in the lounge all the way through story mode. #howgeeksdate
Not sure whether this is just "humor Mom since it's her birthday" or a genuine interest in the game (he and his friends usually play Helldivers and such) but either way I'll take it!
I love that game. It's one of my favorite video game franchises.
I am thrilled to report that my 16yo asked me this morning if I'd like to play Halo this weekend. I played it cool and said yeah, that would be great! while inside I was jumping around like YES PLEASE YES YES YES YES πππ
WE'RE GOING UP UP UP
