My homes distributed audio system which is only barely utilized is wired with CAT5e because if you're running the line anyway and you're not pushing big amperage it works perfectly fine and might be more useful in the future. Which is how you end up with adapters like these.

If we’re sharing our special interests and niche hobbies, I’m your gal for anything on rails, plus shortwave/ham radio, especially the history of Cold War numbers stations. Yes I am completely neurotypical *cough cough*

Some products have a certain type of plastic that over time breaks down and gets “rubbery”. You can’t clean it. It smudges. Everything sticks to it (dirt, etc).

What is this stuff? Anyone have any tips on how it can actually be cleaned or “renewed”? I have a shortwave radio that’s just terrible.
