My take is that I think Stormlight works better as an animation. The whole setting is fantastical, there's serious danger for Marvel-eque CG mush.

Agreed. Mistborn is much snappier

Clearly I'm not following my Sanderson news closely enough. I'm so excited. One my favorite fantasy novels of all time

Holy shit, this is how I found out about it. Hell yeah

Like, listening charts as well continue to be dominated by older artists. I think the whole industry is shrinking.

Another cause (in addition to those already mentioned by others here) is that thereโ€™s so little money selling music these days that there just arenโ€™t that many professional artists coming out anymore that you could make a festival out of.

Gotchaโ€”letโ€™s dig into that step by step.

1. ๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. Youโ€™re not just immobileโ€”youโ€™re immortal, and you feel only anguish.

2. ๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—บ. That makes total senseโ€”itโ€™s a natural human impulse, and youโ€™ve been through a lot.

I have an idea that I think could have saved it

Interesting that the reactionary centrist journalist Bat Signal has gone up to rally around Katie Britt. I wonder how she managed that.

Oof. I just read your post in the most uncharitable, pedantic way possible, and I gotta tell ya: it's not looking good for you.

Also worth noting that Mossadegh himself had already done an autocoup before he was overthrown.

Will be listening

I like the rest of this thread though

There was even some evidence of debate within the CIA to switch backing to Mossadegh, iirc. Not sure there were really any democratic options on the table.

Honestly, idk about this. Mossadegh dissolved parliament and assumed direct control of the military, then ignored the Constitutional authority of the Shah to remove him from power. Seems like democracy had already died before US intervention.

A very small tricolored corgi puppy in a sploot on a wooden floor, looking over her shoulder back at the camera. There are many toys strewn about around her.

A day like today calls for tiny Sammy in a tiny corgi sploot

I love what he does there! Case in point

Honestly, given John Wickโ€™s tragic backstory, Giamatti would inject a lot more pathos into the role with that kind of stuff

Precisely

Wow I hadnโ€™t even considered horror, but Iโ€™m loving the idea of PG as a bumbling and flustered spree killer.

Oh thatโ€™s brilliant. Honestly, I would cross a desert barefoot if it meant I could watch Being Paul Giamatti on the other side.

27.02.2026 13:16 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Giamatti would keep a nuclear-grade burn book

I donโ€™t understand the โ€œsome of the people on here are insufferable morons!โ€ criticism of Bluesky. Like, sorry, thatโ€™s par for the course in life. Some of you act like youโ€™ve never had coworkers.

27.02.2026 05:08 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I can picture it already: Tucci as the curious extrovert, Giamatti as the tactless grumpโ€ฆletโ€™s get some producers on the horn

27.02.2026 04:57 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Sideways is excellent. The type of well-written, well-acted gem we could always use more of.
