Opinion: Don’t delay the CLCPA As tempting as it may be to seek an extension on the 2030 deadline, we should not consider weakening this legislation.

California passes bill curbing utilities use of ratepayer money for political spending State lawmakers last week made California the seventh state to pass a bill limiting investor-owned utilities from using customer money to pay for political and lobbying costs.

Governor Newsom has a bill on his desk to hold utilities accountable, and get them to stop passing along their dark money campaigns to everyday Californians.
