It’s not always easy, especially nowadays, but assuming ignorance over malice has made a big difference in how I view others in these situations. Sucks to be “forced” to have those difficult conversations though, but they can really make a huge difference. Good for you for overcoming that anxiety!
Honestly, I find that a lot of times people cast ignorant judgement on things because they have no connection it, but once it becomes “real” to them (e.g finding that it impacts a friend) their perspective usually changes. Good for you for having that tough convo afterward, glad it went well!
