It is really weird to me when people don’t like reading and books.
I get not having enough time to read. I get wanting to read more, but there are just too many distractions around you. Obviously, I get having disabilities that make it difficult to read.
But just not liking books? Who are you?
This is the 26th time I’ve posted this Doonesbury since 2015.

VIRGINIA:
Happy International Women's Day. We still have so much to fight for! ♀️
In fact, we have in recent years seen Women's rights regress! Please support and vote for people who fight for women's rights - especially if they are women, trans or non-binary
Who could possibly have predicted that a company whose slogan is "cheat on everything" would cheat?

It is hardly surprising that Proton Mail has to obey the Swiss judicial system, but it probably comes as a surprise to many that the FBI can get information that way.
Note that the actual mails are still secure, but now the FBI knows who runs the account and can use that to try to gain access.
I cannot describe the joy and happiness I feel seeing Physics Girl posting a new science video on YouTube. The first one in 3 years! She has been suffering from long covid, and is still recovering

I knew neither of the support bands before, which is one of the joys of going to live concerts.
Out and about tonight. A concert with the brilliant Ukrainian band Jinjer is coming up.
Currently listening to the first support band, the Dutch band Textures, which is quite enjoyable. Next up is the second support band, the German band Unprocessed.
I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves. Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone. That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins. If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after. Sahar Delijani, Iranian author
I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.
I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.
Sahar Delijani said it best:
a…journalist spoke to living, breathing trans people…about the policies that affect them. not their distant and estranged families….or someone from APP who’s just presented as a concerned parent…actual transsexuals?
He seemed surprised that he had managed to pull it off several times.
He explained to me that he had pretty much done the worst choices if he had wanted to be a hugely successful author, given how he jumped to completely new genres every time he had built up an audience by writing a successful book.
I once met and talked with him at a book signing in Fantask in Copenhagen. I have a signed copy of Hyperion somewhere in my book collection.
Sorry to hear the news about Dan Simmons death

The entire British media fabricated a "scandal" at Tavistock and there were only 8 complaints over an entire decade. Yet the most actual common issues were about access to care and waiting lists.

graph tracking democratic backsliding is occuring more quickly in the US than elsewhere.
New from me: It is not just that the US is experiencing democratic backsliding. Authoritarianism has emerged more quickly than in other benchmark countries.
This graph from John Burn-Murdoch sums it up. 🧵
