My undergrad mentor used to suggest his students *start* new experiments at 5pm the day of the deadline so they could tell a better story if they finish before CMT closes
Someone should tell him about the freedom of form foundation, it legit seems like heβd be into that
you absolutely can burn your grassroots potential with overactivation but that's for your team to manage, not the team of electeds you're playing against. our community has been irresponsibly *under*activated by lgbtq org leadership and spontaneous grassroots calls like this have no downside at all.
the next software paradigm will be TDD-driven development
Itβs where one guy takes a comprehensive open source test suite (SQLite, clang/llvmβs suite, web platform tests, ) and goes βI bet I could get Claude to reimplement code that passes this suiteβ
and then he forks over $25k of opus tokens
And now comes a petition from hundreds of workers at Google and OpenAI in defense of Anthropic's stance
www.forbes.com/sites/siladi...
Anthropicβs actual statement is 99% pro-military and 1% βwe will still impose these two constraints on Claude,β so hereβs hoping the Google and OpenAI folks who build on it are able to continue to shift the balance
Taking strong leadership inspires others to do the same
Iβve been enjoying the original Quake lately
Iβm a doom girl, I got my start in computer science playing Sonic the hedgehog mods built on top of the original doom, but quake turns out to also be pretty great in its own way
Is this the βI donβt give a fuck about the judge I do what I wantβ fellow or is that a different case?
the most notable part of the far right buying up legacy news media is that liberals generally always trusted legacy media far more, aside from places like fox news. the downstream effect of this, maybe intentionally, is to have more people distrust media. misinformation will spread easier
Anthropic released a statement on this, www.anthropic.com/news/stateme... I donβt know if the pentagon responded
like this isn't 2012, there are no national queer rights orgs who are flush with cash. Everyone I speak with is dramatically cutting their budgets. And red state queer orgs are always fighting uphill on a shoestring budget.
My challenge to you today is to google a red state queer org and donate.
What if money is the real misalignment
401,000 people moving state to state in fear of having legal documents invalidated (KS), jail time for using restrooms (FL, UT), loss of access to adult care (dozens) or youth care (dozens even in D-led states), & the message from βoppositionβ is still largely βyouβre making too big a deal of this.β
MAKE AN EMERGENCY DONATION to Trans Continental Pipeline right now.
They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate there and they are overwhelmed with requests. CO borders KS, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.
GO DONATE.
tcpipeline.org
Because of the National driver register, since their licenses are suspended, trans folks cannot move to another state and get a new license until they remove the suspension on their existing Kansas license.
They can't even escape this by moving to another state.
Gosh that sounds like a nice philosophy group
Meme of Trump-to-NYT translator: Trump: ... THE SOMALI PIRATES RANSACKED MINNESOTA ... EVEN AS HE WAS GUSHING BLOOD, WHICH WAS FLOWING BACK DOWN THE AISLE HELICOPTER LANDS AT A STEEP ANGLE .... BELIEVE IT OR NOT, HAMAS WORKED ALONG WITH ISRAEL AND THEY DUG, AND THEY DUG, AND THEY DUG... I'VE ALWAYS WANTED THE CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR... NYT Translation: In his first State of the Union address of his secondβ© term, President Trump offered a rosy portrait of a U.S. that has lost confidence in his leadership.
to be honest this adds another layer of horror for me, because it implies that trans people wonβt have any path forward here after Trump
Ahhh yes the two co-genders of book

Ooo yeah fair makes sense
do you think APIs could make a comeback? I kinda hear s/MCP/API/ from this

Have you looked at hate/spite motivation?
I recently had a break from work and was SO creative/productive, and in hindsight the prevailing thought was βwell if people using Claude can publish side projects, I can TOO damnitβ and that was HIGHLY motivating
As a psychologist I think yeah, there is a topic of concern here which is how do current fulltime SWEs invest in learning and protect skill growth. But that is not the ONLY psychological topic here: this whole change to people's self-concepts and potential motivation to do technical work is big
