A wide street with tall old stone buildings on either side. In the distance at the far end of the street is the infamous "golden turd" of Edinburgh: the roof of a shopping centre designed by someone who presumably really likes poo and signed off by some decidedly misguided folk in positions of power.
On a crisp cold Edinburgh morning, the Golden Turd catches the morning light and gleams molten and glorious

(Can't believe we're stuck with a huge golden jobbie on our skyline)
A ScotRail class 385 passes through Princes Street Gardens with the Scottish National Gallery in the background. You can just about make out a class 158 and 170 combo hidden behind an overhead wire mast
A ScotRail Inter7city HST passing through Princes Street Gardens, you can just see the Scott Monument in the background, and a few cranes

Edinburgh Police Box on Marchmont Crescent at the junction of Warrender Park Road. The box is well presented but has a bit of a lean forward. Painted black with gold highlights and a blue roof complete with Siren mount. It has a (retracted) cover and fold down table attached to its front. It is currently operated as "Katero Food Bar" however they are due to move to "the Pitt" in Granton and as a result is advertised as "To Let or For Sale"

This #SirenSaturday we reach the final Insitu evidence of a Siren based on the 1960's "Carrier Planning" list. (There are a few not listed)

This was given Carrier planning number 254/59 in the 1960's.

Black and white ai image of 5 children and young people who are struggling or not in school. They are all showing visible signs of distress. The writing says 223000 mainly neurodivergent children and young people are not in school or are on very part time timetables in Scotland.
Even though it’s the weekend. Children and young people and their parent:carers are negatively impacted by exclusion. The kids can’t go anywhere, they are worried about missing work, losing friends, being judged. They are judged by education, teachers, attendance campaigns and their peers.

The setting sun infuses everything with an orange-red glow. The leafless trees bear the subtle buds of Spring. This Edinburgh street looks sleepy.

The temperature might only be 5℃ but if the sun is shining you can be sure that there will be some Scots out drinking beer in it! 🍻😎 #Leith #Pixel9Pro

Beautiful day for a walk in the Pentland Hills; very lucky to have these on the doorstep of Edinburgh!

GLASS WARNING on the Hawkhill Ave slope to the Restalrig Railway Path. Most of it removed but a few bits embedded in ruts in the tarmac. #EdTravCyc
Slightly different walk home this evening...
Went for a little walk down by the water to see some big stuff in the port and get a poke of chips. Can recommend.

Milnes Court – Edinburgh The home of Robert Mylne and John Mylne, Masters of Craft of Edinburgh. Robert Mylne was the last Master of Craft for the Scottish Crown, a post he held from 1668 until his death. He was responsible for projects such as John Wood’s Hospital, the new Mercat Cross in Perth, the extension of Wemyss Castle, and Drumlanrig Castle. During the years 1662, 1677, and 1685, he also oversaw repairs to Edinburgh Castle. In 1671, work began on Holyrood Palace under the orders of King Charles II. Mylne drew up the plans and was appointed master mason and contractor in charge of the works. His name appears on a pillar in the north‑west corner of the internal courtyard. At the same time, Mylne worked under Bruce at Thirlestane Castle, home of the Duke of Lauderdale, who served as Secretary of State for Scotland. Mylne was also a master of Lodge Mary's Chapel No.1. #edinburgh #history #oldedinburgh
