*edit, she was 10 at the time. And now she's ALMOST 21 😳

Devin’s vision of a future where everyone has a safe, affordable home and is treated with dignity is what brought me to this work. It's been an honor to continue working toward this shared vision!
I don't have a photo from the event, but my then-11-year-old niece did this drawing of me that day
Oh wow, that event feels like a million years ago but also like yesterday. I am so grateful to you for your vision and hard work in founding Be:Seattle, for giving me a path to do work that actually makes people's lives better, for being a partner at the city, for everything.
"A secret lair comes in really handy too when you need somewhere to take an in-meeting vape break while some nerd drones on about something stupid like ethics, civil rights or affordable housing."
My taxes kill children. My taxes detain people without human rights or human dignity or access to medical care. I am complicit in the harm my country is doing. None of us are innocent.
Applications are due at 11:59pm tonight!
My letter to the editor about the importance of funding right to counsel for renters facing eviction was published by The Seattle Times!

Reminder that Anne Frank did not die from Nazi guns or gas chambers, but from a concentration camp disease outbreak. (In her case, typhus)
I’m making a series of reaction videos to a webinar by the Seattle orca NIMBYs lolll here is my first one youtu.be/iWSjAmlVcJg?...
This is terrible. It is also an opportunity for certain journalists to finally speak up with a *fraction* of the courage the people of Minneapolis have shown. It is also instructive that Lemon is Black. Woe/pox etc upon white journalists who don’t freak out about this.
The thing about Catherine O’Hara is she is so hilarious and talented that I forgot she was mortal
Seattle CM Debora Juarez:
"Now ICE in the 21st century is continuing this deplorable, inhumane practice. There is no longer time for performative pearl clutching and handwringing. There is no option except to fight back with our collective voices, hearts and humanity. [...]Abolish ICE. FUCK ICE."

Is this about abolition?
NEW: Liam Conejo Ramos, the 5-year-old who ICE agents in Minneapolis nabbed last week and shipped off to a Texas detention facility with his dad, is now in poor health, his school superintendent told me today www.huffpost.com/entry/liam-c...
We keep our porch and garage lights on 24/7 now. We have energy efficient bulbs and it's very low cost. It feels intrusive and controlling that the HOA is dictating that though
"Authoritarianism feels a lot like normal, predictable life — until it doesn’t. There’s a hidden tripwire you can step on, but you often don’t realize you’ve stepped on it until you find yourself with a gun in your face."

Why is it so hard for Sen. Maria Cantwell to just say something like this? Even if it's completely performative?! Goddamn I can't believe U.S. Senators get 6-year terms and we're stuck with her phoning it the F in this bad until 2030.
Also, upon further examination, the knuckle-cracker seemed to have a close relationship with the other person, which made it more funny and less creepy
It was. Those strange things stood out in contrast!
This is your city — that means that you belong here, you have a right to be here and to live a dignified life, whatever your background and whatever your income. wilson.seattle.gov/2026/01/02/m...
I got a little misty-eyed
When I was a kid, I was confused about why anyone would join a cult. As a lonely adult who would love to escape the crushing force of capitalism, I see the allure.
Anecdotally, I would love a bus that goes along Beacon Ave down to Columbia City and into Seward Park. It's such a short drive but it's a hassle on public transit!
