My amazing team consisting of Junellie @spacejunellie.bsky.social, Coco, Lara, Lishu, Michal, Raquel and Viktor. :)
This weekend, I led my first ever group for the #Sciathon of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings!
Pitching my own idea of a physics app and then leading a group through 48 hours of intensive work seemed daunting, but I could not have asked for a better team! β€οΈ
We made physics EasyPhysi! π«Άπ»

They are so fun! I like that you can have in-depth discussions you won't be able to have during a talk. And you learn a lot in these conversations!

A young woman with brown hair, wearing a white blouse and dark blue dress pants, is standing next to a table. On the table a poster wall is placed, to which her poster is attached. The title of the poster says "Search for Light Dark Matter with the DarkMESA Experiment" and shows the current status of her research, which is about the simulation of the experimental reach of DarkMESA for different Dark Matter models.
Happy Dark Matter Day! π€
I presented my poster about my Search for Light Dark Matter with DarkMESA today. The poster session was really fun, I got a lot of great feedback and I'm definitely looking forward to future poster sessions! β¨
Can't wait for the next conference!

The photo shows a young woman with brown hair pulled back into a bun and wearing a blue shirt and beige pants standing in front of a screen and giving a talk. The screen shows the title slide of her talk titled "Search for Light Dark Matter with the DarkMESA Experiment" on a red background with the JGU Mainz Logo.
Yesterday I presented one of my two PhD projects - I showed my work on Simulations of Light Dark Matter model searches with the DarkMESA Experiment, an upcoming detector experiment in Mainz. I had so much fun and I can't wait to talk more about it today at the poster session!

I really like that we have career orientation inputs from both people who stayed in academia and people who went for industry. It was quite cool to discuss pro's & con's for either way and get a broader view of opportunities for post-PhD life. The EINN Pre-conference workshop is amazing!

A tuxedo cat is sleeping on a beige sofa in the hotel lobby.
The photo shows the pier of Paphos during sunset. The lights of the pier are reflected in the Mediterranean sea.
The photo shows an ice cream cone with two flavours. In the background, the pier of Paphos is visible.
I had a lovely first evening in Paphos with the other students from Mainz University! We had a nice dinner, ice cream, walked along the marina and got to pet the hotel cat! Incredibly grateful for these experiences. Can't wait for the pre-conference to start tomorrow! πβ¨

A young woman with long brown & blonde hair braided together and a light blue T-Shirt is smiling in the camera. She is sitting in a cafe at the airport.
The second year of my PhD is full of new experiences - first talk at an international conference, first Poster presentation and now the first international conference abroad! Looking forward to meeting new people, discuss physics & my PhD topic and explore Cyprus πβ¨

I hope so too, I look forward to the Artemis mission! And I also hope that one day we'll be able to go to Mars - people have been curious about it for centuries...
Greetings to your mom! Her postcard was beyond thoughtful.

Hi, I'm Saskia, a PhD student in particle physics working on Dark Matter searches and Charm Decays! I love chatting about all things science (I love doing Outreach!) and artsy. I like trying new stuff (like figure skating, sailing or trampolining) and traveling. Looking forward to meet people here!
