The rules based order was only ever convention as we learnt during Boris Johnson's prime ministerial period and Trump's first term
The rules could have actually been codified since then, but both in the UK and in the US, it has not been done. It's incredibly disappointing and depressing
The special relationship was always a one way thing, but our political leaders would never acknowledge it
We need to pull back our relationships with the US, even more so after this
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.
Which means itโs now the US administrationโs position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
I hate working on windows, so many restarts to handle installs and rubbish like that. I miss being able to work on Linux, heck even macOS would do
This is what I get for working on legacy code projects
Another day, another Cloudflare outage
Don't we all just love relying on other people's hardware for everything...
I think so much of this falls upon those who said "we just need to hear out their concerns" over and over as they moved the Overton window and then the law, step by step.
Almost nobody with any actual power stood up and said "no, we don't debate the concerns of bigots"
Interesting watching @zackpolanski.bsky.social on The Rest is Politics, good first half and then it got a bit weirder in the second half
Some difficult questioning from Rory where he didn't seem at all receptive to the answers, and then Rory repeating his issues with Gary Stevenson repeatedly
Hope is here.

I am here for the rise of "theatre kid" politics, this is amazing
People overwhelmingly voted against the Tories, not for Labour to impersonate the right of the Tory party
They seem to have no awareness of what traditional Labour voters want, nor people on the Left in general
Good thing we have the Green Party to turn to now for actual progressivism
"We have become the destination of choice in Europe" according to the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood.
Data from Eurostat & the Home Office shows the UK had the fifth largest number of claims of the EU/UK area in 2025, at 108,000... assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/691ae0...
The Greens donโt believe providing safe refuge for endangered asylum seekers is an โout-of-controlโ policy.
Nor do we believe making life more difficult for those in need is the way to unify British society.
Refugees are welcome.
don't give labour a single vote under any circumstances
You would think that this would be a sign to Labour that they're walking a dark path, but I can almost imagine them cheering that this might mean a couple Reform voters move over (at the cost of thousands on the left and even centre)
Seeing a Labour home secretary go on national television to say that human rights have gone too far was honestly not something I was expecting to see... until Starmer's Labour
We were told to vote Labour otherwise these bad things would happen, then they ensured the bad things would happen anyway
It comes across like their actual argument wasn't with the unethical ideology of the Tories, but the incompetence when it came to implementation of that ideology
I will never vote for a party that gleefully attacks the vulnerable like this Labour government has attacked:
โข refugees
โข trans people
โข disabled people
โข children in poverty
Even if they claim some bogeyman wants to do it too.
Thereโs no point in Fascism Liteโข.
I don't get it, how far are they willing to go towards the far right in the hopes of picking up a few right wingers? We all know the people calling for this would never take a Farage-light
The only plus side is them self-imploding after the Tories doing so means we might finally modernise politics
If income tax goes up but a wealth tax isn't introduced or capital gains isn't brought inline with income tax (or raised higher), I will be absolutely livid
That's the most frustrating part in some ways - it feels like a lot of those issues the trans community raised were picked up and warped into a transphobic attack on trans healthcare
A woman is killed by a man every 3 days in the UK...
78% are murdered by a partner/ex
Yet not once have I heard Reform talk about this
Not once have I heard them back measures to protect womenโs safety
In fact, they voted against them...
Transphobes don't just hate trans people, but they're generally quite shit - racists, islamophobes, shit politics, that's what they stand for
When I said our fight is one, I meant it, the same people coming after one minority also target others
Legitimate concerns need space, hate doesnโt
Goes to show how little he knows about what being a member of parliament actually is like. He's such a joke
They played the game in the lead up to the election and then their true colours showed afterwards. I'm sure there are many trans people and trans allies which have gone from Labour voters to never being able to vote for them again
I hope it was worth it for you, Starmer, it wasn't for us
BREAKING: @zackpolanski.bsky.social confirms on #BBCLauraK that @greenparty.org.uk now has a bigger membership in England and Wales than the Tories do across the UK.
It really shows one of the scarier sides of AI, while it's hard to get the specific outcome that you want, if you're someone like Musk with effectively infinite resources, you can choose to manipulate what people are using as a source of knowledge
Feels like we're past the end of reliable knowledge
The thing is, Labour's comms and social media work is so awful that their attacks will only result in even more people joining the Greens
I say bring it on, Labour
After seeing the video of Trump and Starmer, I can't tell if it's Starmer being humiliated, Trump genuinely not remembering who Starmer is, or most likely both at the same time
