some favourite spaceship designs that i don't have the time to properly model, but still good enough as sketches; done for 'shiptember 2024'
A painting of Inglenook harbour. A salty old sea dog makes repairs to his skiff βCicelyβ while a sinister character appears in the shadows, framed in an archway (I took the name Cicely from a track on the Cocteau Twinsβ βTreasureβ album, fact fans)
Cicely, lobster pots etc
"Allaria", my illustration for Draco Studios. This merging of imperial China & elven court called for a very special site, inspired by my travels in China: Zhangjiajie National Park. You might spot a few subfactions, including an enclave where human merchants are allowed to do business.
These tests were meant to take an older project in a new direction, but I still like the original pitch pages quite a bit so I'm posting them here too.

TRIBAL - vehicular fun
The Flowers of Evil is a dreamlike and symbolist work paying homage to Charles Baudelaire. It incorporates references to major themes from Les Fleurs du Mal. On the left, a dark wreck emerges from turbulent waves, evoking Man and the Sea or The Voyage, symbolizing wandering and the quest for the infinite. Above, a colossal feminine figure, framed by shadows and branches, recalls The Giantess, embodying a sublime and unsettling beauty. At the center, three women stand as allegorical figures or enigmatic muses, intertwined with gold and shadow, representing ideals, temptation, and melancholy. Their posture suggests a mystical dance or ritual, surrounded by feathers and flowing veils. The orientalist architecture in the background, with domes and golden mosaics, echoes Baudelaireβs fascination with exoticism and distant landscapes, as seen in poems like Exotic Perfume. The composition blends chaos and luxury, enhanced by the use of gold leaf, which amplifies the themes of decadence and the allure of the sacred. New day, old characters. A set from circa 2010
Watercolour painting of a fantasy blue bird. It is facing left and running, it has black legs, similarly shaped to an emu or an ostrich. Its chest is yellow and it has tiny little wings (it is flightless) that are flung out behind it. It has a large head and very large/deep pink beak with serrated edges. It has a plume of blue feathers on its crest and its eyes are black.
