The media desperately wanted to give the right a cultural moment and the problem is that they have no culture.

Just a fundamentally evil, malevolent person. Rotten to the very core.
I agree with this + I sorta sneered at the βresistance within the Trump administrationβ stuff but in retrospect there were principled people within his first administration preventing enormous harm.
This was murder. Pretti did not initiate the confrontation. He didnβt strike them. He didnβt brandish his gun. They tackled him, beat him, disarmed him, and shot him.
Itβs no comfort, but the official DHS line being βhe can be killed by masked agents of the state because he had a legal gunβ is such an interesting new frontier in how Trump has made the conservative movement very publicly and embarrassingly abandon every principal it once claimed.
1. Shoot people like dogs
2. Unrest
3. Martial law
The plan is that transparent. Donβt let them
iβm not particularly attached to βabolish ICEβ as a slogan but as a policy itβs mandatory
Gary Larson: In my cartoon I invented Cow Tools as a cautionary tale
Cows: At long last, we have created the Cow Tools from classic newspaper comic Cow Tools
You have to understand, the agent involved is stupid. We begged him to stop standing in front of cars but he canβt figure it out. Heβs stupid and he has anxiety from the time before when he was stupid, so we just have to let him pop off. We wish he werenβt, but he is. And we have to respect that
indeed sheβs so cool
lol
eliza and i watched this last night and were both very impressed. I didnβt think a knives out movie could emotionally move me but it did twice!
could someone please do an edit of Max levitating off the ground but instead of listening to Kate Bush sheβs listening to us talk about the guy fucking the horse
This is a long read, but SO worthwhile (and it gets better and better).
Lots of great insight.
TLDR: the deliberately adversarial relationship between trans people and healthcare providers is enormously harmful, for everyone.
Thank you!! π
Really, really good interview on the issues with restricting transition care, creating adversarial relationships between patients and providers and advocating for trans-hostile standards that harm trans people and detransitioners alike.
thanks to @androgynyfiend.bsky.social and @dolphindiaries.bsky.social for their time and great answers!!
Bit of a change of pace: New Interview! open.substack.com/pub/transcar...
it's so odd to me to see people go to bat for a political newcomer like platner. it's not like he's spent years earning our trust. we have very, very few data points about this dude, and one of those data points is "he has a nazi tattoo."
thatβs also counter to the principle of individualized care I conclude with as an overall recommendation
My point is more that the wait time is the problem. I donβt think itβs necessarily true that more assessment gets you better results for all patients β I argue otherwise later on! However you should be making that call for medical reasons, not administrative ones
at no point am I saying that whatever the UK was doing was good β it very clearly was not
thereβs not value in clearing cases quicker *after a 3 year wait*. I think youβre zooming in on one sentence and missing the larger argument Iβm making
Sorry, what part of the article are you objecting to? Iβm not clear

Azeen is going to write a very nuanced and detailed article with opinions from autistic people and also these random organizations she found with reasonable concerns that absolutely donβt want to eliminate autistic people
Ahem the guy who invented the term "evidence based medicine" just rebuked the most prominent anti-trans health lobby group in the world www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
