Between writing for an Aussie show and several projects set in the American West, I sure find myself writing "reckon" a lot more often than I say it.
I think itβs the basil. Itβs not the same after itβs cut. Also yes on the other stuff.
If you're at the airport and Kristi Noem is doing the ominous little message from the TSA screens, you no longer have to do anything she says. Leave your laptop in the case, whatever.
Ooh! The esteemed Alex Shvartsman has a Kickstarter for a cool new thing. Definitely worth checking out for sci-fi fans: www.kickstarter.com/projects/ufo...
Pentel energel needle point. Delicious.
A wall full of mugs arranged in such a way that it looks like the mugs are repeating themselves, creating an uncomfortable illusion
Woe, wall of astigmatism be upon ye
That heist took some stones
Me, looking like an absolute doofus, which, well, you know. Is not inaccurate.
I am 100% intrigued by the fact that in an article in the San Antonio Express-News, about this weekend's Pop Madness Convention at the city's public library, all the other authors mentioned get conventional headshots and I get a picture that's me all, like, "yeah, I'm wearing my hands backwards."
Uggggggh
Yes please!
Why choose?

A sepia-toned image of a woman wearing a jeweled hennin, perhaps from around the turn of the 20th century
Hey history hivemind, does anyone recognize this image? A student wants to use it in her capstone and is trying to track down both citation and context. The earliest version of it in a reverse image search is from a Harry Potter fandom tumblr post in 2013. #skystorians #medievalism #medievalsky ποΈ
Dill and sea salt. Very very nice.
One of my early editors at @thestranger.com has been awarded a fellowship at the Iowa Writers Workshop. Emily is raising money to help fund her relocation. Emily helped a lot of writers get their start in Seattle. Let's help Emily get a fresh start in Iowa.

I just want a world in which I can say wow these dill-flavored Triscuits hit the spot without feeling like I'm stealing time from absolutely necessary screaming from absolutely everyone including me
I've been seeing some wild snails on this website lately.
Just like me!

I will never understand how anybody could look at a photograph of a beautiful creature and think that it needed to be improved
As the laid off Middle East News Editor, I concur. Management eliminated the positions of every single staff correspondent and bureau chief in the Middle East.
A screenshot from a scam website targeting authors that claims to work with Zadie Smith and Colson Whitehead both of whom are Black people but the photos of them are AI generated generic white people
Well today in AI scams targeting authors. I received an email claiming to want to include my book in a book club. Not only do all the photos of authors they claim to work with look AI generated but look at @colsonwhitehead.com and @zadiesmith.bsky.social and then look at these photos
I did! And I wrote for Marvelβs Jessica Jones. Truly, it is an age of Marvels.
