See the Falls on the Canadian side, of course, but nearby is a really big butterfly conservator that’s really worth a visit. There’s a crazy go kart track etc there too. Ice wine is big in the area as well. Message me how long you’ll be in Toronto and I’ll try to recommend good stuff.

(....also incredibly thankful past me took Modes of Reason classes in University so future me was mildly prepared for the rollercoaster ride of now working with devices in gaming. Speed run is an understatement for jumping into this space).

Spin Master Games | Beat The Parents: Let’s Roll | The How-To! YouTube video by Spin Master

The cube is 6 different games all in one device that gets families up, moving, and having fun. It registers movement, knows when it's been picked up, knows which side is up, and keeps score. First team to win 3 games are the champions.

Beat the Parents "Let's Roll" is hitting shelves in North America and Europe! The learning experience designing this device was intense but incredible. We had to design everything from the games, appearance, timing, sound effects and even the voice lines for this cube-shaped gaming compendium.

An incredibly cool gift arrived at my house this week! Not only was it a complete surprise, but this is my first Sideshow Collectibles piece and it's a childhood fav. The detailing on this thing is INSANE and the box is shaped like a VHS sleeve. Again, incredible. And very grateful, thank you💕

Thanks @ericabouyouris.bsky.social for making something that tricked my kid into having fun with old mom.

Sometimes when I design a game, I know all the right elements are there but they're not working together the way they should. It's amazing that reworking the same components can create so many different play experiences and the goal is to find the right one AND the optimum way the parts interact.

I really appreciate comments like this. As much as I love designing crunchy games, most of what I design is for people who want something fun, casual and quick to learn.

It’s also great to see how Dumb Ways to Die is still finding its audience. It’s a silly game designed to be a silly game. It’s wonderful to see people just having a good time with it still.

I had 4 family games come out this year. I don’t often post about my games more than once, just that they released, but I wanted to share how honoured I often feel that I get to make games that are usually someone’s ‘first’ - their first co-op, set collection, pick-up-and-deliver, drafting, etc.

My last new game release of 2024 comes out in just a few days. I had so much fun getting to work on a Bluey Beat the Parents game. Every card is based on some kind of imaginative, creative, or silly thing from the show.
