i'm so in
THIS DECK MUST BE DESTROYED HELLO MAGIC COMMUNITY Forever decks are wonderful, right? Something that you fall in love with so much that it will hang around in your collection for years to come. Well, I've been throwing around the idea in my mind of what the exact opposite of a forever deck would be, a deck that, by its very nature, can only be played once. And ultimately the art piece/ thought experiment/ why the hell would you do this I settled on was this: a deck that no single person, not even me, fully knows the contents of. A deck that, upon being played a single time, voids its own premise for construction. So how would I do this? Well, that's where you come in. I am looking for 99 creators/ community members/ players to each send me a card for this deck. You will not tell me what the card is. You will sleeve it backwards in an opaque sleeve so even on arrival I do not know what it is. And you will not share it with anyone else.
The second challenge is this. I want the deck to actually be legal, i.e, 99 card singleton with the exception of basic lands. Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is finding a card that you are confident no one else will pick. Also I'll probably need lands so that makes it harder, and I won't actually know if this was achieved until the day it dies. Also the deck will be WUBRG and will have a generic enough Commander so that it doesn't matter too much what you send - think Progenitus or Child of Alara. The deck will also likely be very bad. You will also ideally sign the card/ include a note so I know who it's from, and super ideally record a little video alluding to your choice and why for inclusion in the video I'll be making about this in the future - bonus points for some kind of significance like the first basic land you ever owned, a card you've never seen anyone actually play in earnest, etc! Once the deck is assembled, it will sit, hidden from the world, until it is ready to be unleashed at an event (probably a UK Commandfest as I likely can't afford Magiccon though would love to be there), where it will be played once then immediately retired, with its founding principle having been firmly defeated.
