Also, Incus sounds like the nerdy kid on Boy/Girl Meets World. Or like, Incus, Mal, and Stape could be the comic sidekicks in a Disney movie

Ossicles! My favorite part of La Brea! The wall of ossicles theyβd found because the giant sloth had dermal ossicles, little round bones embedded in the skin to act as armor. Plus itβs just fun to say! β€οΈ
For Pride month I am posting photos and videos of the Queer Big Apple Corps band. At a time when our protections are being threatened, we must be out loud and proud. Here we are being just that in Queens on Sunday. youtu.be/OF7bmVlDRkY?...
I've published the Kiwi PyCon 2025 Academic Track Proceedings. Fun to be the editor of a proceedings, and to have shepherded this process through. Looking forward to doing the same at PyConAU this coming August.

Camp Lilac is a summer camp for trans and gender diverse youth in the midwest. You can vote for them to receive money in the annual P4A charity drive. Applications are also open for July/August sessions, if you know any young trans folks whoβd be interested
Aside from Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL, they also received submissions in Hardcaml, Chisel, Spade, Bluespec, Veryl, Clash, Spinal HDL, PipelineC, βand even someoneβs own experimental HDL languageβ
Finally catching up on this episode, that coincidentally mentions bias-variance trade-off, which Iβm just this week writing about in my thesis
Itβs in Google Maps if you search βRiff Raff Statueβ π
Embassy Park, Hamilton, Aotearoa New Zealand. FB event with more info on the celebration and history of the statue:
A metal statue of the Riff Raff character in the final scenes of the Rocky Horror Picture Show movie, in the quilted triangular costume and hair-do with a ponytail on top gelled to point forward, and with a pronged laser gun steadied on his arm. The statue has a square metal base reminiscent of the RKO tower from that scene. It sits on a circular island in a concrete plaza off the street, next to the new Embassy Theatre with a modern glass facade and tiled walk. Red laser lines, styled as in the movie, run from the statue to a plaque in the ground. The view is a wide-angle webcam from the roof of a building on the opposite side of the plaza from the Embassy, along that street.
A non-wide view of the same scene, this time centred on the statue and showing more of the back of the park, where the plaza transitions downhill to the river walkway.
The Riff Raff Cam is live again!
The statue has been returned to Embassy Park, Hamilton, with an official unveiling festival this Saturday β watch the cam around 8:30pm to see Richard OβBrien himself do the honours!

Iβll see if I can find it. Itβs not exactly this one (also from the Boston area) but similar:
Thereβs an old sign in Boston that a friend pointed out because it says βNo loiteringβ but it has an artfully detailed silhouette of a group of, like, β60s greasers hanging out and smoking, that he felt had the opposite effect of making loitering look cool
The band is getting ready for The Ego & The Oracle: a musical show where we invite the audience to ask a question of the oracle and then spin the wheel to find the song that answers it. Shawn Peters interprets the results. #somervillema #bostonmusicscene #theburren

Also running are the Avatar Moth and the Hobbit Psyllid, but they are neither blue nor have hairy feet
A round silvery insect with spikey hairs sticking out sparsely from all over its body, reminiscent of the Pinhead character in the Hellraiser movies. Below the square photo is the caption: Hellraiser Mite.
NZ Bug of the Year is open! but can we talk about how satisfying this insectβs name is? bugoftheyear.ento.org.nz
The difficulty of using Bluesky from Aotearoa New Zealand is that my Boston friends wonβt see anything I post unless I post in the morning, but if I donβt post it now when Iβm thinking about it, it wonβt get posted, because Iβll immediately forget
Huh, my experience is the opposite.

Student-of-image-processing things: I'm wondering if I can set up a program to detect interesting motion on the new kΔkΔpΕ egg cam (ignoring little flying insects, but alerting me when a kΔkΔpΕ arrives or the egg moves) www.youtube.com/live/BfGL7A2...

Guidelines might already exist in a repo -- coding conventions, PR guidelines, testsuite structure -- does the AGENTS file need to repeat that? Can it just say, "Instructions for adding new tests are in testsuite/README.md"? And how do you test if an AGENTS file (or change to it) is effective?
I just saw a strongly worded announcement from the city that events on the common need a permit and food needs a certificate -- was it in response to this?
