You can influence his behavior before he’s overwhelmed and massively barking … but once he is alarm barking, it’s too late. Don’t worry about rewarding him too early, that’s better than being late.

You might have a friend or family member help you … training is hard when it’s spontaneous - but in a set up where you know when there will be a noise, you can practice - otherwise, you’ll always be on edge with him … no good for either of you.

Moving is stressful for dogs too :). So much to get used to … if the door is easily blocked, I might suggest that too (adding distance from the noise). As he gets used to the new place you might be able to remove the gate or barrier.

I agree with the above. Practice the reinforcement when he isn’t stressed or anticipating the noise from the hall. I like pairing this with coming away from the door - before the noise and then during. Treats happen away from the door … tossing a treat can make it fun for him.

This is a serious question, although I know it’s doubtful there’s a real answer. What happened to Fetterman? Am I wrong that he changed views dramatically once being in office? Will PA vote him out in a landslide? Please?

As a citizen I’m appalled, horrified, embarrassed and so mad that my country is doing this. WE are responsible and complicit. Their deaths and the destruction of their world is on our heads, their blood on our hands. I am not this vocal. I am not an extremist. I cannot be silent.

This is Cocoa, who is a small Jindo. Shiba Inu are the smallest, Jindo next then Akita … all same family of dog. It took Cocoa 2 years to feel comfortable with me, and he still lays just a millimeter away from me … and I know he loves and trusts me.

Shibas are the dog version of a cat. They love on their terms only, but sitting companionably with you is a love language. Change your expectations - and you’ll be happier :). This is Jupiter -
