Giggling at this. What a dick. The punchline is worth the wait.
A pink rotary payphone of a type that used to be very common in Japan, apparantly still in working order in my local ENT clinic. There is a slot for 10 yen coins, and the message "When you hear the pips, insert another coin"

A great, if depressing, article. If anything gives lie to the lazy decrying of humanities and the arts as a waste of time and education it's the fact that, despite enormous medical and technological strides in the last 100 years, our understanding of our own society and culture hasn't moved at all.
The precedent is eerily, chillingly precise. What the current Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is doing to immigrants and refugees today is almost a carbon copy of what Sir William Joynson-Hicks was doing 100 years ago. And that's not a good thing. My column.

Filth. Utter filth.
π¨ It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.
This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.
Please spread the word.

Given the content of Hegseth's speech outlining how the US doesn't appear to be interested in such churlish things as legal rules of engagement, we can only hope that one day he gets to listen back to it in the Hague.

Well, no, theyβre not just as wrong. The bigger error is not seeing that βtrying to win over voters from a party on the opposite end of the spectrum, whose values your core voters opposeβ is not same as βchasing voters from party on same side ideologically whose values your core voters like.β
There are no ifs, buts or maybes about this. Restore Britain and Rupert Lowe are unapologetically far right neo-nazis, and by definition anyone supporting them is as well. This is going even further than Reform.
Chapter 1 of Moby Dick, page 1 The phrase βCall me Ishmaelβ, the first sentence of the book, is highlighted in blue, with careful highlighting on the very big C at the start. Above this, written in ballpoint pen βHis nameβ
Love the glimpse into the beautiful mind that notated this used copy of Moby Dick I got
This week at the Vagina Museum, we are honoured to hand the mic over to Rape Crisis South London, as they showcase a pop-up exhibition of art created by survivors. The installation is free to visit, and closes on 1st March. www.vaginamuseum.co.uk/visit
This is the level to which some people will debase themselves for the approval of the world's richest demonstrable cretin.
Speccy looking short middle aged man with a shock of dark but greying curly hair sits engrossed reads a draft of the 20th Anniversary Doctor Who adventure 'The Five Doctors' then entitled 'The Six Doctors' while consulting The Terrance Dicks collection at Borthwick Institute at the University of York.
Me, today, at the Borthwick Institute at the as part of a fact finding work trip to see the various collections held by the archive.
This is me working very hard indeed as I consult a draft copy of the 1983 Doctor Who adventure The Five Doctors which forms part of the Terrance Dicks collection.

Iβm going to watch this because itβs an important story (water companies are having a laugh, it needs to end) but this image looks like AI attempting to do The Detectorists π³
Well, threaten me with a fantastic time!
Genuinely just rounded the corner of the aisle and gave a little cheer because there was ironing water on the shelf.
When i say AI is fascist this is the type of thing i mean. A way of thinking about human beings as objects.
And spouses
One of the most toxic ideas is so-called βGender Critical Ideologyβ. This false conspiracy theory believes that trans ppl are not real & should not have human rights*. To get an idea of how extreme this is, read the link in Leeβs post & replace the word trans with Jew. Itβs disturbing.
Chicken flavour Super Noodles
This one hits hard.
Let's be clear. If Streeting cared remotely about the wellbeing of trans youth he would have called an immediate public inquiry into the 500% increase of deaths in trans kids after he and others stopped gender affirming care.
But instead, he commissioned a bogus report to try and cover it up.
Omg no, such a waste of time. Stick with Who, The Omega Factor, Children of the Stones, and Blake's 7 π
