The critical discussions we need to haveβ¦ Such as about the eulogy to Stalin by W.E.B. Du Bois, whose work is crucial to critical race and decolonial scholarship, yet, this selective decoloniality does grave injustice to the liberation struggles of Central & Northern Asia, & Europeβs East
OTD in 1940, as part of "protecting them from fascism", Stalin signed the order to murder 22,000 Polish officers in Katyn. Like our recent crimes, we blamed nazis. This is Stalin writing "approved" on their death warrant.
Imagine crimes against humanity on this scale today..

This was such an important discussion and I cannot recommend these books enough! Itβs particularly vital to read them together. Do prompt your libraries to order them, they are incredible sources for teaching and further research on justice, history, philosophy, art, literature, culturesβ¦

According to Tomenko, the current war on Ukraine is revealing a deeper historical parallel. The Roma families, who survived the German Nazi occupation and genocide, are now facing a 2nd war in their lifetime, with many Roma fighting in Ukraineβs defense against the ongoing genocidal Russian invasion

I'm struggling to understand the present-day "peace through strength" concept β where some dictators are eliminated, while one particular dictator is offered generous business opportunities and full impunity for genocide.
Ukrainian pilots of the 28th Mechanized Brigade documented Russian phosphorus attacks on residential buildings in Kostyantynivka, immediately followed by a FAB-1500 strike. Official estimates show about 2000 civilians still in the city.
