I flat out felt no desire to use the shotguns in a doom game of all things, using the nailguns more than anything.
The overreliance on the shield is what I think really killed the gameplay fast for me especially with how long it took for a enemy to show up that felt like it was actually trying to skill check me instead of standing around being parry fodder. The weapon balance is somehow even worse than 2016-
Got to mission 14 in doom the dark ages before deciding to drop the game. I should've caught a hint that I wouldn't be enjoying this entry for long once I had to tweak the fucking nightmare difficulty of all things in order for the difficulty to actually feel like nightmare.
